💬 Anthony Carter, P-TECH coordinator, “I have worked with Hayden for the past four years as part of the P-TECH program at Dundalk High School. During this time, Hayden has shown the ability to engage in challenging coursework, problem-solve, and increase her quality of work. Hayden has truly shown herself to be an outstanding student during her time at Dundalk High School and in the P-TECH program.
“Hayden has consistently shown her ability to work hard, accept challenges, and demonstrate those qualities to the students around her. Hayden began taking CCBC courses during her 10th grade year and, this spring, she will complete her Associate of Applied Science degree in engineering technology with a concentration in civil engineering. Throughout that time, she has had to deal with difficult courses and situations that have caused other students to stumble. Hayden has been able to persevere through those challenges to become the seventh 4-year graduate of the P-TECH program at Dundalk High School and the first female student to complete this extremely difficult challenge. Hayden has accomplished this goal while involving herself in athletics every season and working at night and on weekends.
“Hayden’s ability to demonstrate grit, while being professional, has provided her with an opportunity to intern with one of our business partners RK&K, a civil engineering firm based in Baltimore. Hayden will take the skills she has gained throughout her time in P-TECH and apply them to the various roles she will undertake during the internship. This experience will allow her to learn more about her potential future career as a civil engineer.
“Hayden is excited to continue her college career at a 4-year institution this fall. While she has not decided where she will attend yet, I know that she will continue to demonstrate her abilities at that university. I know Hayden will continue to be an example and resource to her future classmates by sharing her knowledge and experiences. I wish Hayden all the best in her future endeavors, and I hope that she continues to work hard to achieve the goals that she has set for herself.”
