Welcome to middle school Class of 2032!!
5th graders from all five elementary schools in the district visited DMS yesterday to celebrate this huge transition. They toured the school, asked questions, met teachers and students, practiced with combination locks, and checked out all the activities DMS has to offer. We hope they enjoyed the morning and feel a little less anxious about this change.
A big shout out to our DMS students who helped lead the pep rally, lead tours, answer questions from 5th graders, served snacks and shared info about their activity. They did an awesome job!

Thank you DMS 8th grade Gifted & Talented students and their teacher, Mrs. Stacy Smith, for helping us plant some beautiful flowers for our gardening barrels at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Center! This was an activity originally planned for OK Frontier Days last week but the rain required a change of plans. This group of student volunteers also missed helping at OK Frontier Days so this was the perfect day!

Yesterday we celebrated OK Frontier Days 2025! We didn’t let the rainy weather spoil our fun! Special thanks to Chisholm Trail Heritage Center for their partnership and support.

Last week we held our annual 5th Grade Pep Rally to welcome 5th graders to DMS to prepare for this big transition into middle school. Thank you DMS Administration and Student Council for helping us plan this event this year! We are ONE Duncan!

OK Frontier Days 2024 is in the books!!

On April 11th, DPS third graders participated in our annual OK Frontier Days celebration. What a fun day! THANK YOU to our generous community who helped make this event possible!

ONE Duncan would like to show its strong support for Dr. Byerly and our DPS school board in their pursuit of unity for our children and our community.
Change always hurts a little. But growth and improvement often require change.

With the adoption of one, district wide mascot, we are not losing our elementary school individuality, we are CHOOSING to focus on what unifies us.
ONE school.
ONE team.
ONE community.
Our parts aren’t greater than the whole.

The need for unity in our community is precisely why ONE Duncan was formed 8 years ago. Observations by parents, teachers and community members of separation, divisions, and barriers that are often unnoticed at the surface, but that deeply affect our students and community members.
Since then, we’ve seen many positive changes in our district by many groups.
But we have a ways to go.
If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that:
**If we are not purposefully, continuously practicing inclusivity and promoting relationships between us and our neighbors…..we are NOT united.**

Let’s not take our own perspective as fact. Ask others in different places and situations how they experience something. You might be surprised what you learn. We sure were.
This is how ONE Duncan began.

Tradition is important. But we will always choose community over tradition.

5th Grade Pep Rally 2023!!
On Monday we welcomed all 250 Duncan 5th graders to DMS for a visit. We celebrated this upcoming transition into middle school with a pep rally and lots of Duncan spirit!!
Current middle schoolers answered 5th graders’ questions, helped them with combination locks, showed them around the building, and told them about the many extracurricular activities DMS offers.
Thank you DMS administration, staff and students for all your help making this happen.

OK Frontier Days 2023 was a success!!
We had a fantastic time celebrating Oklahoma history with this year’s third graders!
We are extremely grateful for the parents, teachers, and community members who made this happen. 278 Duncan third graders enjoyed a day full of meeting new friends, fun activities, and a fresh grilled lunch! THANK YOU sponsors!
