🏀 Duncan Youth Basketball League Sign-Ups Are Open! 🏀

Get your kids ready for another season of DYBA hoops! Registration is $65 (includes uniform & insurance), and every player is guaranteed a spot on a team.

📅 Season runs December–February, with all games played right here in Stephens County gyms.

✅ Or sign up in person on October 11, 2026 at the Duncan HS gym, 12:30–2:30 PM

🏆 GOLDEN SPOON AWARD! 🏆
Congratulations to 1st Grade — Mrs. Ramirez’s Class! They are this week’s Golden Spoon Award winners! 🥄✨

They did an amazing job keeping our cafeteria clean and showing excellent cafeteria procedures and Horace M.A.N.N. PRIDE! ❤️🤍

Their reward? The Golden Necklace for their classroom door for the week!
The Golden Spoon trophy for their classroom for the week! And, of course… an ICE CREAM PARTY! 🍨

🎉 The Golden Spoon Award is awarded weekly to a class that consistently is demonstrating excellence by
keeping our cafeteria clean & showing HORACE M. A. N. N. Pride!”🎉

How a class earns the Golden Spoon:
⭐ Enters the cafeteria calmly and follows directions.
⭐ Uses appropriate table manners and cafeteria voices.
⭐ Remains seated appropriately while eating.
⭐ Keeps food and drinks on the table—not the floor.
⭐ Cleans up their eating area before leaving.
⭐ Picks up trash around their table and surrounding area.
⭐ Leaves the area ready for the next group.
⭐ Follows all cafeteria procedures.
⭐ Shows HORACE M. A. N. N. Pride: Make good choices, Act Responsibly, Never give up, and Notices & Respect others.
⭐ Works together as a team to leave the cafeteria better than they found it.

The Golden Spoon goes to the class with the most points on the rubric and that demonstrates the most
consistent cafeteria responsibility throughout the week.

A HUGE thank-you to everyone who fed us and took care of us during our late nights for Parent-Teacher Conferences!

A special thank-you to the Duncan Public Schools Foundation for the delicious chicken spaghetti from Crimson Cake, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church for the delicious desserts and adorable cupcakes, and our Horace Mann PTO for the yummy baked potatoes!

After a long day, having a meal waiting for us meant so much. Your kindness and thoughtfulness truly helped keep us going!

We are so grateful for the love and support you’ve shown the Horace Mann Team! ❤️

𝓜𝓪𝓴𝓮 𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓶𝓪𝓻𝓴… 𝙰𝚗𝚍 𝚜𝚎𝚎 𝚠𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚒𝚝 𝚝𝚊𝚔𝚎𝚜 𝚢𝚘𝚞! 🎨✨

September 15th, Horace Mann celebrated creativity, courage, and making our mark!

Our students were inspired by The Dot, a children’s book by Peter H. Reynolds. The story follows Vashti, a student who doubts her artistic ability but discovers that sometimes all it takes is one small dot to begin something amazing.

HM Champions learned that creativity doesn’t have to start with a masterpiece—it can start with just one dot! 🔴

We made our marks, celebrated our creativity, and discovered where one little dot can take us!
