Eagle’s Nest Spring Break had a special visitor—Sarah's Serpentarium 🐍 The kids got up close with some amazing reptiles and you could feel the excitement all around. Such a fun and unforgettable experience!

✨ Staff Spotlight ✨

Meet Brittani Lutz-Midthun, Site Coordinator at North Star Eagle's Nest and Lakewood Elementary K.E.Y. Zone!

Britt has been with our YMCA for 1.5 years and has spent several years working with children. Her journey in youth development began in behavior therapy, where she supported children with differing behaviors and helped them build important skills and confidence.

Brittani loves seeing kids discover new topics and activities, and watching their growth as people throughout the year. She’s especially proud of learning new topics alongside the kids and building lasting memories together—something she values deeply and she always enjoys finding ways to make learning fun!

Outside of work, Brittani has a full and lively household. She’s married to her husband Jordan, and together they have two kids, Nolan and Nora. Their home also includes two cats, Fen and Cletus, along with 5 fish and over 50 aquatic snails!

Brittani hopes every child leaves the program embracing their creativity and imagination. She loves seeing how expressing themselves as individuals brings joy not only to them, but to everyone around them.

Her favorite activities with the kids include arts and crafts, as well as outdoor adventures in every season. She enjoys keeping things creative and active year-round.

Fun fact: Brittani loves taking close-up photos of nature, capturing unique perspectives of things like moss, rocks, bark, water, and leaves.

We’re so grateful for Brittani and the creativity and care she brings to both North Star and Lakewood —especially as we celebrate her during National Afterschool Professionals Week!

Career Week is coming up March 23–27! We are inviting community members to visit the Lake Superior YMCA After School Programs to share about their careers with our youth. This is a great opportunity for kids to learn about different career paths, ask questions, and be inspired by members of our community.
