We hosted our first ever SENIOR NIGHT this year! This night was all about our Seniors- department awards were given, academic honors were recognized, and everyone in attendance was able to bask in the awe of our graduating class. Congratulations, graduates! [Photos below include the 'Golden Calculator' for excellence in Mathematics and the Science Reach award- featuring our new Green Cord for excellence in Science]

I (Krissa Boman, aka the person writing this post and breaking the 4th wall right now) don't know what these seniors are pouting about, but this is the face I am making as we get closer and closer to graduation!
Please join us at Mitchell Auditorium (College of St. Scholastica) on Saturday June 6th at 11am to celebrate our graduates. 🥳 [Event link: https://www.facebook.com/share/16uALwnMcA/ ]

Our Spring Symposiums for 7th and 8th grade students were centered around Courage, Creativity, and Community. There were students rock climbing and rappelling, students writing and performing poetry, students volunteering out in the community with Lincoln Park Children and Families Collaborative ()- students doing SO MUCH STUFF! 🤩

HCIS alum Xander returned to HCIS this past week to lead the Baaga’adowewin symposium! Baaga’adowewin is a traditional ball and stick game of the Ojibwe people. It shares similarities to the Haudenosaunee game, which modern lacrosse is derived from. Thank you Xander for your time, energy, expertise, and boundless compassion and enthusiasm. 🥳🌟

Check out this photo of current HCIS students crossing a bridge built by past HCIS students on the Superior Hiking Trail! 📷
Edit to add- if you were a Harbor Citizen that worked on this bridge, or if you know of one, please leave a comment / share this post! Your impact on our greater Duluth community is still there and still valuable! 🥰
