Hello everyone! ๐ We've been on a short break from our Alumni Spotlights while our Facebook admin was on "maternity leave" ๐ We're excited to get back to featuring our DCS Alumni by introducing you to the one working behind the scenes of this page...
Today's alumni spotlight! ๐
Today's alumna is Deidre (Kennard) Brown.
Deidre attended DuBois Christian Schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade and graduated in 2010. After graduating she went to Liberty University and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Human Development Psychology.
Deidre says, "I married my high school sweetheart, Tim, in 2015. We have 3 kids-- Reagan (6) (who currently attends DCS), Everett (4), and Harper (almost 3 months). After graduating college I spent a few years as a high school math/science teacher at DCS before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Being a stay-at-home mom is the most challenging and most fulfilling thing I've done in my life so far. My hobbies are reading, crocheting, couponing, and doing home improvement projects with my hubby. I also enjoy staying involved at DCS with things such as subbing, overseeing "The DCS Closet", helping with hot lunches, running the DCS Alumni page, and other parent volunteer opportunities. "
We asked Deidre two questions about her experience while attending DCS...
1. What's something you're grateful to have experienced during your time at DCS?
"DCS was (and still is) a family! I'm so grateful for the forever friendships I formed while attending DCS and for the numerous staff members who truly cared for me, prayed for me, and invested in me as an individual."
2. How did DCS help prepare you for life in the real world?
"The academic standards at DCS ensured I was properly equipped to succeed in college and even in the work force. DCS also prepared me spiritually by reinforcing the truth in Colossians 3:23-24, which says, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ." I now get to take the Truths taught to me at DCS and teach them to my children as I work as a stay-at-home mom. I can confidently say that DCS prepared me not only for higher academics and the work force but also for motherhood. I couldn't have asked for more from DuBois Christian Schools! โค๏ธ"
Thank you, Deidre, for sharing what you have accomplished since your time at DCS, as well as sharing how DCS played a role in preparing you for the future!
We can't wait to share more stories from our graduates! Make sure you follow our page and invite fellow graduates to follow as well as we learn more about the kind of people DCS is launching out into the world! ๐๐
