McDaniel, Dresden Boys Earn Second Consecutive Wins
Dresden Cross Country continued its strong start to the season at the Fenton Dawson/Cadiz Rotary Cross Country Festival, where the Lions recorded several outstanding individual finishes and collected team awards across the program.
High School Girls — 5K
Hudson McDaniel led the way by winning the high school girls’ 5K for her second consecutive individual victory. McDaniel crossed the finish line in 19:36.7 to claim first place and continue her impressive opening stretch of the season.
Bailey Warbington also recorded a top-15 performance, finishing sixth with a time of 21:23.8. Peyton Oliver placed 19th in 23:18.9.

High School Boys — 5K
The Dresden High School boys made it two team victories in a row, winning the meet with 47 points. The Lions placed three runners inside the top 15, led by Vaughn Bounds and Carson Brownlow-Rendon.
Bounds finished second with a time of 17:20.3, followed closely by Brownlow-Rendon in third at 17:23.4. Dominic Ledezma added an 11th-place finish in 18:20.4, while Miles Cary crossed the line in 18:36.3 to place 16th. Carter Oliver and Conner Evans finished 18th and 22nd, respectively, to give Dresden six runners among the top 25.

Middle School and Elementary Girls — 2K
Dresden’s younger runners showed that the future of the program is equally promising. The girls won their team division with 16 points and placed five runners inside the top 10. 1 point away from a perfect score!
Gwendolyn Bounds captured first place with a time of 7:33.9, while Taelyn Trevathan finished third in 7:46.9. Nevaeh Fulgham placed fifth at 8:07.8, Matilda “Mati” Hubbard followed in sixth at 8:08.1, and Willow Erwin finished ninth with a time of 8:14.4.

The Dresden Middle School boys finished second as a team with 74 points.
Benjamin Pettit earned another individual victory for the Lions, winning the race in 5:57.8. Dax Rainey also secured a top-15 finish, placing 15th with a time of 7:35.4.

Altogether, Dresden placed 12 runners among the top 15 of their respective races.
With consecutive victories by McDaniel and the high school boys, along with strong performances throughout the younger divisions, the future remains bright for Dresden Cross Country.
The high school Lions will return to competition Tuesday, August 25, in Union City.
