✳️From our last pinned post, which was about how interaction on the page had been affected by mixed response to the COVID pandemic and how administration of the page had to change from the way things had been when it was first founded in 2012 in order to address conflict. Over the many years since Central Bucks Engage came together as a watchdog group in 2012, we've seen parents, staff, students, and local residents come together in different ways to address a huge array of concerns and suggestions with Central Bucks leadership -- showing up to meetings, participating on committees, writing letters, holding meet & greets, educating themselves to be better advocates, and so much more. This community has tremendous resources, human and financial, and we have come together time and time again to create innumerable opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and succeed. It is heartbreaking to see such division in this same community right now during a public health crisis. Our generation has never been tested by a pandemic like this before, or been part of a population relieved to receive the miraculous cure for a scourge like smallpox or polio. We are not used to the sense of unease caused by being reminded of our mortality on a daily basis. But thanks to COVID-19, here we are. For so many reasons, there has been some conflicting guidance in the handling of this pandemic: from world and national leadership, from health organizations, from our state and local governments, from our school district, from area businesses, from people we know... and we can't fix that on our page. But we can keep this space respectful and civil by turning off the small number of contentious voices of social media who come here to disrupt, belittle, and troll in a way we have never experienced in the past. Several of these profiles are from people outside of Central Bucks, which is indicative of the sort of campaign being waged. But many aren't, and honestly, those are the most troubling -- people now feel comfortable saying confrontational things on social media, arguing with strangers or leaving a ridiculous laughing face emoji, exposing their cruelty, derision, and condescension for all to see. Too many people have forgotten or do not care that this page is followed by thousands of people in the Central Bucks community -- neighbors, relatives, employers, district leadership and staff, the parents of your child's friend...
But we do care. And we want those who are genuinely here to learn about and improve the Central Bucks community and school district to feel comfortable participating on this page, without concern that they will be attacked or mocked. In the past, warnings were issued, but generally unnecessary -- but from here out, assume that Central Bucks Engage admins will be deleting comments and banning those who are unable to treat others and us with respect. This means:

When Central Bucks Engage was formed (by Democrats and Republicans), the only people really causing issues on the page were relatives of the school board, frustrated with those challenging the status quo. Social media has changed a lot since then; we still encourage you to engage, but not with an angry minority who seek to make more noise than the rest of us in an effort to appear more powerful. During this period of unrest in our community, surround yourself with those who bring you strength, not drain your energy.
