Redefining Parenthood

It seems I start each birthday from the same space, but it truly is the best spot in the house.

I’ve created practices, websites, and communities from this couch. It’s where our kids come to rest when our bodies need to be nourished and heal. It’s where family comes to share meals and catch up. It’s where I create community, connect with incredible people, and take the time to grow as an individual.

Wherever we start the day, may it be one that brings us peace and joy as deeper alignment comes our way - allowing us to simply be where our feet are. ❤️

Cheers to this 36th year of LIFE. 🥂

Some of our biggest lessons come from the super uncomfortable challenges: The runners.

You know, the situations where it’s easier to run away. It’s easier to stick to your guns. It’s easier to disconnect and give up.

The transformation comes through staying in the ring. Getting dirty. Feeling the discomfort. Sitting with it. Leaning into it. Learning from it.

It takes time and a special kind of person to be like "more, please" 🤣

But the best part of life is when we stop bracing for impact and start leaning into the unknown.

The "truths" we've held for generations reveal themselves as fear... and when you're leaning into the unknown, fear turns into curiosity... And the growth cycle starts again. ❤️

I think one of the biggest challenges is our desire for control. Society says “Find your person, get the dog, land the job, get engaged, married, find the house, have perfectly spaced kids…” and the list goes on. We feel like we have to fill that mold.

Those things can (and will) happen out of order, yet so divinely timed it can make us question our role in the bigger picture.

Our role gets to be simple. Be present and kind, do the best we can with the tools we have, and to be open to learning as we go.

Connection over Compliance.
Presence over Perfection.
Grace wins every time. 🫶

When my anxiety shows up, vacuum lines and essential oils help me chill the eff out.

When we can observe our feelings as signals for what our body, mind and spirit needs - it’s not as scary or intense.

This applies to our kids too - when we look at behavior as a way of communication, instead of defiance, we can help understand their needs and support them in getting those needs met!

They’ll probably respond better to the oils over the vacuum, but you never know! 😘

Introducing: Reflect ❤️

Reflect is an intentional workshop designed for families to explore the challenges they face in their parenting journey.

This gathering supports parents in uncovering the root of disconnection within their home. As we navigate the difficulties of parenthood, it’s important to be open to different perspectives. By learning to pause and reflect, we can intentionally observe the conflicts and consciously choose connection as our response.

Join me on Tuesday evenings at the Coterie Commons to engage in meaningful discussions and practical exercises centered around this powerful parenting tool. All classes operate on a donation basis, allowing you to contribute what you can and help spread the word. 🙏

I grew up in a LOUD home.
A home that eventually ended up separating and divorcing, for the best…
But it was always loud whether they were together or not.
Their energy was loud.
Their frustration and hate for each-other was loud.

And loud homes create silent children, until those children find their voice.
The anger and powerlessness gets buried so deep that when they are in their own challenges they realize…
Loud feels normal.
Loud feels comfortable.
Loud finally feels like Power.

And when we become parents,
We create our own loud homes.
Because loud is the default setting.
Loud feels normal.
Loud feels like power.
And loud homes create silent children…

Until one day, we witness our children’s familiar silence after our fit of rage..
We realize loud, in fact, isn’t normal.
We realize loud isn’t Power.
Loud is generations of silent children, needing to be heard.
