A law signed September 9 is scheduled to take effect November 8, 2026. It gives current and former employees access to their personnel files, including termination notices and disciplinary records. Employers must provide a free copy within five business days of a written request. Employees can also submit a written response disputing information in their files.

A notorious slumlord who willfully neglected nearly 20 Syracuse properties for years has been kicked out of the city’s rental market.

A judge has given Mendy Kletzky, of Brooklyn, 90 days to sell the 18 rental properties he still owns in Syracuse. He must also pay $6.6 million in fines and interest for open code violations, including lead paint violations, going back as many as 1,000 days.

Construction reporting pay S9843
Signed September 9, 2026; effective December 8, 2026.

It establishes minimum reporting pay for construction workers and two hours’ pay when a scheduled shift is canceled with less than 12 hours’ notice. The applicable rate and reporting-pay calculation depend on whether the project falls under prevailing-wage requirements.

In Massachusetts Fair Housing Center v. HUD, the district court denied HUD’s request to suspend earlier orders concerning funding for organizations that investigate and challenge housing discrimination.

A CHILDHOOD CANNOT BE PUT ON HOLD.

While adults argue and court dates come and go, children keep growing.

Syracuse school-zone cameras carry actual fines. The city’s initial warning period ended in November 2025. School zone speed camera and red light camera violations carry $50 fines. The city says to pay or dispute within 40 days to avoid a $25 late penalty. Red-light cameras operate around the clock; school-zone speed cameras operate during posted school hours.
