The Mentor program at Sterling,developed by the School Counselor, gives wonderful opportunities for our community to pour in support. We are incredibly grateful for the amazing community members who are choosing to invest their time, encouragement, and wisdom in our. These relationships matter, and we can’t wait to see where this year’s journey takes them!

Celebrating future teachers at Greenville County Schools’ Future Teachers Academy iTeach Conference at Roper Mountain Science Center! 💜📚

Teacher Cadets from across the district explored the teaching profession and took meaningful steps toward their future college, career, and graduation readiness in action! 🎓✨

And a shout out to Bryson Middle School School counselor Joy Hawkins and Hillcrest Middle School School Counselor Kim Groome, as they proudly represented the conference for their 5th year, leading the “Rollercoaster of Emotions” session in the planetarium! 🎢💜

🏕️ Counseling Adventures Are Underway at the Sterling School! 🧭

Students rotated through adventure-themed stations designed to build important skills for the journey ahead:

🏕️ Camp Out – practicing mindfulness
🧭 Creative Compass – exploring creativity
🥾 Trail Talk – connecting with peers and discussing the lesson
🌄 Journey Forward – reflecting on learning and identifying next steps

We love seeing their school counselor, Mrs. Berry, help ensure this year’s Every Day’s An Adventure theme come to life while helping the Sterling Griffins develop skills that support the ! 💙💛

Ralph Chandler Middle is continuing to ensure their newest Panthers feel welcomed!
​Thier 6th-grade counselor, Ms. Posley, has been dropping by classrooms to introduce herself and meet all of the RCMS 6th graders.
​At RCMS, the school counselors stay with their cohort of students for all three years of middle school. That means Ms. Posley will be a very familiar, supportive face throughout their entire journey in middle!

This multi-year connection ensures every single student is truly known, understood, and supported with a strong foundation of trust during these uniquely transformative adolescent years.

🎯 Building a Mindset for Success at Bryson Middle School! 🐾
​The 6th graders at Bryson Middle spent time working with their school counselors to craft their personal mission statements! From identifying their unique strengths to setting ambitious goals for the school year, these students are taking ownership of their futures.
​We are so proud of the reflection, vision, and heart of the Bryson Middle students put into defining who they are and where they're headed.

Paris Elementary an exciting delivery from our friends at Public Education Partners! They have awarded Paris Elementary and our School Counselor, Mrs. Snider, with a Pep Up Your Practice Grant!
​This grant will allow Mrs. Snider to participate in high-level professional development sessions from a national school counseling conference, equipping her with advanced strategies and tools to enhance her practice and elevate our entire School Counseling Program.
​Help us congratulate Paris Elementary and Mrs. Snider! We are so proud of this accomplishment and her continuous dedication to our students and school community!

Greenville County Schools School Counselors kicked off the 2026–2027 school year by celebrating some of the outstanding counselors making a difference across our district! 💙

We were excited to recognize several deserving school counselors for their leadership, dedication, and commitment to supporting students, families, schools, and one another.

🍎 School is back in full swing, and our GCS School Counselors were excited to welcome students back into our buildings! 💙

As we finish out the first week, here are a few quick tips to help students start the year strong:

🖍️ Elementary: Get back into a good bedtime routine, talk about one favorite part of your school day, and remember it’s always okay to ask for help.

📚 Middle: Stay organized, get involved in something you enjoy, and don’t be afraid to reach out to your school counselor as you adjust to new classes, teachers, and expectations.

🎓 High: Start strong by keeping up with assignments from day one, find ways to connect with your school community, and remember your school counselor is there to help with academics, future planning, and everything in between.
