Unspoken is McMaster's first short poetry publication with the aim of addressing various social issues through the power of written word.

Unspoken is an illustrated collection of poetry, addressing “unspoken” themes and topics. The goal is to explore the power of the written word and to provide a platform for McMaster students to showcase their artistic abilities. We are excited to announce a McMaster QTCC x Unspoken collaboration event! The event is called "All Shades of Love" and will involve a blackout poetry workshop and open mic! 🤩🥳

⏰5:30-8:00 pm
📍 MUSC Room 220

The theme of the event is "All Shades of Love." Love means different things to different people, and this event is all about celebrating these diverse meanings ❤️✨

The blackout poetry workshop will be from 5:30-6:30 pm, where you can learn how to write blackout poetry (all supplies will be provided). The open mic will be from 6:30-8 pm, where you can perform your blackout poetry or any other work that you would like to share. 🤗

If you are interested in attending, please fill out the sign-up sheet in our linktree. Refreshments will also be provided 🤩

Hey everyone! Poetry is not just about expressing your soul in words-- it’s also about connecting with people who can decipher your most cryptic expressions. On March 24th, we will be celebrating this unique connection on a grander platform - the annual Multi University Poetry Slam! Poetry clubs of universities across Canada are coming together to bring like-minded poetry-enthusiasts together. McMaster Unspoken is thrilled to be working alongside with UBC Slam Poetry, McMaster PCWS, McMaster The Muse, uOpoetry, and Penned by Western for this show.

📝 All are welcome to sign up as a performer or an audience member!

🕒 The event will be held virtually on 24th March from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM (EST)

🙋 20 competitors will be selected on a “first come, first served” basis

✍️ Prompts will be given for those who are writing new materials for the show

🎤 Time permitting after the poetry slam, you can present your own material for an open mic

Le 24 mars, nous célébrerons cette connexion unique sur une plateforme plus grande - le Slam annuel de poésie multi-universitaire ! Les clubs de poésie des universités de tout le Canada se réunissent pour rassembler les amateurs de poésie qui partagent les mêmes idées. Refugee rights are human rights.

McMaster Unspoken is taking submissions for this month’s feature of Refugee Awareness. This ongoing human crisis, of those displaced and forced to flee their homes and families, transcends cultures and races. There is an opportunity to speak up everyday, so let this be your opportunity.

DM us your favourite poet’s work, a poem of your own, or any poem that holds value in relation to refugee awareness. These will be posted on our page with credit!
