Third grade is bringing math to life! 🎉 Our students are using the CRA model—Concrete, Representational, and Abstract—to build a strong understanding of place value. With manipulatives everywhere, students are actively breaking apart two- and three-digit numbers into hundreds, tens, and ones. From hands-on tools to drawings and number sentences, they are showing that math is more than finding an answer—it is understanding why it works!
We love seeing our young mathematicians collaborate, explore, and confidently explain their thinking. Keep up the amazing work, Third Grade!

Yesterday two Holly Hawk staff members were honored with the distinction by Dr. Abell as being the first Holly Hawk Teacher of the Week and Staff Member of the Week. They were greeted by Hank the Hawk and Holly the Hawk and received a prize. Dr Abell is impressed by these new to Holly staff members and their go go ‘em attitudes. They have been a great asset to our Holly Hawk family.

Great news! Over 125 families have joined the PTA since the beginning of this school year’s membership drive. The winners of the contest with the most families who joined with the homeroom teacher are as follow:

Art Club applications are available now. Art Club is open to fourth and fifth graders. Students who are interested in joining Art Club should see Mrs. Wright either after class or before school to pick up an application. All applications are due on Monday, August 31 by 8:00 a.m.

🍎 Celebrating our 2026-2027 Teachers of the Year ✨

Holly Springs Elementary School Teacher of the Year Kremena Clayton is originally from Bulgaria, and she has always been drawn to foreign languages, cultures and the opportunity to connect with people from around the world.

She earned her first degree in international tourism, which allowed her to travel extensively, meet people from diverse backgrounds and gain valuable experiences. During one of her work assignments, she met her husband and together they are raising their two amazing children.

Clayton comes from a family of educators and has always admired the profound impact teachers have on shaping young lives. Becoming a mother deepened her passion for children and inspired her to pursue a second degree in early childhood education from the University of West Georgia.

She teaches second grade at Holly Springs, where she strives to create a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment for every student.

Clayton’s pedagogical priorities extend far beyond academics. In addition to teaching knowledge and skills, she hopes to help her students become kind, respectful, confident and compassionate individuals who are not afraid to dream big. One of her favorite quotes by Rick Riordan is: “Fair is not everyone getting the same thing. Fair is everyone getting what they need to be successful.”

Outside of the classroom, she enjoys traveling, exploring different cuisines, reading, personal growth and spending meaningful time with her family. One of her greatest sources of pride is building strong relationships with her students and their families and having the opportunity to make a positive and lasting difference in their lives every day.
