It’s so ironic that I’m caring 1:1 for an HLHS toddler awaiting a ❤️ heart transplant. My heart breaks for the family. I’m having so many flashbacks of being in the hospital with Camryn. I try by best not to live in those days of hell and heartbreak. Seeing how far my son has come is amazing. Despite that, I can just imagine the sleepless nights those parents are having. I pray a heart comes son for this little one. I hate congenital heart defects.

Cam has been a busy guy all summer. He’s approaching his 2 year heart transplant anniversary. Wow I can’t believe this is the same kid. ❤️ He’s having a cardiac cath next week praying all is well and no organ rejection. 🤞🏽

Hey everyone it’s been a long time since I gave an update but Camryn is doing great! His heart function is beautiful and he is growing like crazy! He’ll have a cardiac cath sometime during the summer and then he’ll have another one in a year. Wow!! What milestone. So far he hasn’t had any rejection and even did well while he had covid. I definitely thought he’d get very sick. He was pretty asymptotic just like myself, although as a precaution he was admitted into the hospital and given steroids. I’m so thankful 🥲 this kid amazes me everyday. He’s a tough guy for sure! He’ll finally be able to start school in the fall instead of homeschooling. I’m very nervous because covid is still very prevalent. He’s super excited to finally make some friends. Thank you for your support.

Amazing

A surgical team at Duke University Hospital successfully implanted a new-generation artificial heart in a 39-year-old man from Shallotte, N.C. This is the first procedure with the device in North America.

The artificial heart was developed by CARMAT and has been studied in Europe, where it is approved for use.
