When I'm not engaged in professional pursuits, you'll often find me running the trails of Southwest Colorado, soaking in the natural beauty of my home state. I'm also a Gallup strengths coach, a role that allows me to apply a structured, strengths-based approach to both my professional and personal development endeavors.

Whether I'm mentoring emerging leaders in the nonprofit sector or enjoying the breathtaking landscapes of Southwest Colorado, I aim to live out my philosophy of Intentional Well-being in every facet of my life.

Transformation doesn’t happen in the future—it happens now, in this breath, in this choice.

Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us, “The secret of transformation is in the way we handle this very moment.” In the IWL framework, presence isn’t just a practice—it’s a commitment to showing up fully, with intention and care. Whether we’re facing challenge, uncertainty, or growth, the path forward begins in how we hold this moment.

Let’s ask ourselves: How am I meeting this moment? With resistance—or with awareness, compassion, and curiosity?

“In difficult times, carry something beautiful in your heart.” - Blaise Pascal 💫

This quote is a beautiful reminder that no matter what we face, we have the power to carry beauty, love, and light within us. In times of struggle, our hearts can still hold onto what’s beautiful, offering us the strength and resilience to keep moving forward.

Let’s take a moment today to focus on the beautiful things in our hearts, no matter how difficult life may seem.

In a world that often feels broken and overshadowed, remember that your light has the power to shine through the darkness. 💡

L.R. Knost beautifully reminds us: "The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is you." Your kindness, your strength, and your unique gifts are the light this world needs. Every act of courage and compassion helps illuminate the path for others.

Never underestimate the difference you can make. Your light matters.

Leadership isn’t about authority or being in charge; it’s about responsibility and care for those in our charge. 💫

In the IWL (Intentional Well-being Leadership) framework, this quote resonates deeply with our core values. Leadership is not about leading from the front with power, but about leading from a place of care, understanding, and intentionality. It’s about showing up for your team, creating an environment where everyone feels valued, heard, and supported.

As leaders, we cultivate spaces where others can grow, thrive, and feel confident in their abilities. It’s about recognizing that the most effective leadership is grounded in empathy, presence, and the well-being of those we lead.

So, how are you leading with care today?

Justice isn’t just an abstract idea; it’s a reflection of love in action. ❤️

Cornel West says it so powerfully: “Justice is what love looks like in public.” In Intentional Well-being Leadership, we believe that true leadership starts with love—love for humanity, love for equality, and love for justice. It’s about showing up for others, advocating for what’s right, and doing so with compassion and understanding.

As leaders, we must ensure that our actions speak louder than words, and that love is at the core of everything we do in the public sphere. Justice is not just a goal—it is the way we express our commitment to creating a better, more equitable world.

How do we, in our roles, bring justice to life with love in our communities?

In Intentional Well-being Leadership, we understand that true happiness is not the absence of sorrow, but the acceptance and integration of both. 🌿

This quote beautifully captures the essence of that journey: “By accepting and learning to embrace the inevitable sorrows of life, we realize that we can experience a more enduring sense of happiness.”

In IWL, we encourage leaders to recognize that hardships are part of the human experience. It’s through facing these moments with mindfulness and presence that we cultivate resilience and lasting fulfillment. The key is not to avoid or suppress the challenges but to acknowledge and learn from them, allowing us to grow and move forward with greater wisdom.

So today, let’s reflect: How are we embracing the inevitable sorrows in our own lives and transforming them into sources of growth and lasting joy?

This is so sweet and smart.

Reflecting on Resilience and Connection 🌱

This month has been a profound journey of contrasts and emotions for me. As I navigate through my chemotherapy treatment—currently in cycle 5, day 1—I am constantly reminded of the core principles of Intentional Wellbeing Leadership: resilience, empathy, and community.

Despite the challenges, including a recent birthday spent under the cloud of treatment, the outpouring of support has been a beacon of light. It was a reminder that leadership isn’t just about steering through the storms but also about nurturing the bonds that sustain us.

Moreover, witnessing a close friend struggle with a tremendous personal loss has deepened my understanding of empathy. It’s shown me that our responses to adversity aren’t just about finding immediate strength, but about the ongoing journey of recovery and the support we garner.

At IWL, we talk about the importance of creating supportive environments that bolster resilience and foster growth—even more critical during times of personal trials. This period has reinforced my belief in the power of community and intentional support systems.

As we continue to lead, let’s remember to lend strength to others and embrace the support that surrounds us, cultivating an environment where wellbeing is nurtured on all levels.

Leading Through Adversity

Dear IWL Community,

As leaders, every challenge we face is not just a test but an opportunity to learn and grow stronger. Today, I'm sharing a personal update that brings with it a new dimension of leadership experience.

I have recently begun treatment for stage 4 colon cancer, embarking on a six-month journey with chemotherapy. This experience, though daunting, is a profound teacher. It’s teaching me about resilience, the power of community, and the deep well of strength that we all have, even when we feel most vulnerable.

In the coming months, as I navigate the complexities of treatment and its side effects, I invite you to join me in reflecting on how we can all grow through what we go through. How do we lead when faced with personal battles? How can our struggles inform and improve our leadership?

This isn’t just my journey; it’s a shared path of learning and leadership. I believe in the power of our community to uplift, learn, and emerge stronger. Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Let's harness this challenge as a catalyst for growth and a beacon of resilience.

Warmest regards,

Rose

In the journey of Intentional Wellbeing Leadership, embracing the unknown is as crucial as celebrating the known. Rachel Naomi Remen puts it beautifully: “The willingness to consider possibility requires a tolerance of uncertainty.”

As leaders and changemakers, stepping into the fog of uncertainty isn’t just inevitable; it’s essential. It’s where growth happens, where new paths are forged, and where our true potential is uncovered. This image captures that moment of poised balance between the comfort of the known and the thrilling potential of the unknown.

Let’s reflect on our own journeys today. Are we allowing ourselves to be comfortable with uncertainty? Are we open to the endless possibilities that come with it? Remember, it’s in the spaces between, in the uncertainty, that the magic of growth and innovation lies.

Together, let’s lean into the unknown with courage and openness, ready to embrace whatever possibilities come our way.

A Moment of Pause: Embracing a New Challenge Together

Dear IWL Family,

In the spirit of transparency and connection that has always been the heartbeat of our journey together, I find myself sharing a chapter that’s unexpectedly opened in my life.

Recently, I was diagnosed with cancer. This news has ushered in a whirlwind of emotions and logistics, navigating the newness of this challenge amidst an already bustling schedule.

It’s a time filled with many moving parts—appointments, treatments, and decisions that require my immediate attention and energy. This journey, although personal, impacts the rhythm of our shared space here. My commitment to fostering a community centered on wellbeing, growth, and the pillars of intentional leadership remains unwavering. However, the format of our engagement may see a gentle shift in the coming months.

As part of adapting to this current season, I plan to revisit some of our cherished content—bringing back to light the insights and conversations that have shaped us. Perhaps these reflections will offer new meanings and revelations as we view them through a different lens. Our deep dives may become less frequent, but I promise to keep the essence of our explorations alive with thoughtful, albeit shorter, pieces that continue to champion wellbeing and personal development.

This moment also presents us with an opportunity to delve deeper into the profound work around wellbeing, especially through the lens of Gallup’s research. There’s much to learn and discuss about how physical pain and health challenges can deeply impact our overall sense of wellbeing, even when other facets of our lives are flourishing. It’s a testament to the complexity of our human experience and the resilience that lies within our collective spirit.

I am navigating this with hope, leaning on the very principles we’ve explored together—compassionate accountability, the power of vulnerability, and the strength found in community. Your understanding and support mean the world to me as I take this time to focus on health and healing.

This isn’t a journey I chose, but it is one I’m embracing with the intention of learning, growing, and ultimately, finding ways to contribute to our collective wellbeing through this experience. I look forward to our continued conversations and the shared insights that emerge from this chapter.

With gratitude and hope,
~Rose
