It is absolutely devastating to the entire community when a school closes it's doors for good. Friendships are broken when kids are split into different districts. Families stop moving into the community when there isn't a school to attend there. Businesses struggle with employees and sales, and many end up closing their doors, too. And citizens end up paying higher property taxes anyway (to the “new” school district they’re drawn into). It’s a lose, lose, lose situation.

We must NOT let this happen in Dodgeville. YOU are the answer.

PLEASE support Dodgeville's School Operating Referendum in November! It's a bare-bones, reduced referendum for the essentials.

HUSTISFORD, Wis. (WKOW) -- The Hustisford School District has closed its doors after voters rejected a $3.75 million referendum in April, leaving the district without money for operations.

Survey results are in.

The survey shows that only 47% of respondents said they would support a $2.5 million referendum. With the margin of error just over 3.4%, it would be unlikely to pass. The top concern from previous “no” voters was the tax impact.

The School Board listened. On Monday night, they voted to REDUCE the dollar amount to a $1.9 million operational referendum for 3 years.

This amount is less than what our schools need, but it’s better than no referendum at all. The money would provide much-needed funding to keep our schools operating and educating our kids.

Now it’s up to us! Please vote YES on November 3! 🖤🧡

ATTENTION! The Survey results are in!

Responses: 874
Response Rate: 21.3% (excellent!)

The survey results show that 47% of survey respondents would support a $2.5 million. With a 3.37% margin of error, the likelihood of it passing is slim. The top reason given by those who previously voted “no” was that the tax impact was too high.

The School Board listened. On Monday night, they voted to place a $1.9 million operational referendum (for three years) on the November 3 ballot.

Is $1.9 million enough? It's less than what is needed. But it's much better than not passing a referendum, and it would provide much-needed funds to keep our schools operating and educating our kids.

NOW it comes down to us. It's time to come together and support our schools! Please vote YES on November 3! 🖤🧡
