What a special Grandparents Day at Hancock Middle School! Our HMS Café Crew served an incredible 939 meals to students and their special guests, with some extra helping hands in the serving lines from Superintendent Rhett Ladner, Dr. Saucier, Ms. Stewart, and Mr. Halley! 🍽️

A HUGE shoutout to our amazing café crew for the hard work and heart they poured into making today so special! We’re also so thankful for our district office and HMS staff who jumped in wherever needed. It truly took a team to make today such a success! ❤️

TIME IS UP, HCSD FAMILIES! 📢 Today, September 9th, is the LAST DAY students can receive Free or Reduced-Price meals based on their 2025-2026 eligibility.

If your household has not submitted a new meal application for the 2026-2027 school year, please do so as soon as possible through SchoolCafe. Last year’s eligibility does not automatically continue for the entire school year.

Already submitted your 2026–2027 meal application? Thank you! No further action is needed at this time.

🚫 Do not wish to receive meal benefits? Please still submit an application and select “Decline Benefits.”

Beginning tomorrow, September 10th, students without a new eligibility determination will be responsible for paying the regular meal price.

📅 LAST YEAR’S ELIGIBILITY EXPIRES SEPTEMBER 9th - JUST 9 DAYS AWAY!

⚠️ A NEW meal application must be submitted for your household for the 2026-2027 school year. Eligibility does not automatically carry over for the entire school year. Submitting your application now can help prevent an interruption in your student's meal benefits once the grace period ends.

Due to the potential for 60 mph wind gusts and lightning this afternoon, Hancock County School District will release early today to allow our students and staffulty to travel home safely.

We will follow our regular Wednesday Early Release schedule:

🔹 Elementary Schools — 1:25 PM
🔹 Hancock High School — 2:31 PM
🔹 Hancock Middle School — 2:45 PM

Please make any necessary arrangements for your student’s early arrival home. Stay safe, H Nation! ❤️💙
