Faculty Friday Alert! We would like to introduce you to the one and only, Mr. Lew. Mr. Lew teaches 6th grade Math and Science in the DBL and traditional cores. Something you may not know about Mr. Lew is that he spent two years in China teaching English before coming to CMS. We have been so fortunate to have Mr. Lew for the last 10 years. Mr. Lew is one of those teachers who you can find tutoring students at lunch and always going above and beyond to make sure students get the support they need. He shared that he loves to travel and hang out at airports! Mr. Lew has three adorable kids who keep him busy and are the center of his world. The next time you see Mr. Lew give him a high five. He deserves it!

Faculty Friday on a Thursday!!! Please meet our friend, Cathy Cartwright! She is one of Chaparral’s Nutrition superstars! Cathy was born in Los Angeles near USC. She has been a CMS Cougar for the last 8 years. Cathy shared that she loves working at Chaparral because the kids fill her heart with compassion and kindness. Some of the students remind her of her daughter and the days she went to school. Cathy explained that when she engages with students who genuinely want to connect with her, it has moved her to tears. She shared, “I really see the kids. I know what it is like for them. And, when they see me it fills my heart.”

Happy Friday! This beautiful lady is Geri Munoz, our office manager at Chaparral. Everyone knows Mrs. Munoz as the busiest lady on campus. She has been the hub of CMS for the last 17 years. Before this, Mrs. Munoz worked for South Gate Police Department. She has two kids who keep her busy at home when she isn’t doing her magic at school. Mrs. Munoz shared that when she does get a little free time she loves listening to all kinds of music and travel. She wants to go anywhere she hasn’t been, a true traveling spirit. Don’t forget to say “hi” the next time you are walking through the office. Mrs. Munoz has a service heart and is ready to help you in any way!
