Childhood Memories of a War-torn Philippines A book of recollections of World War II in different regions of the Philippines as experienced by the authors and their friends and relatives as children.

The book is a recollection of different regions of the Philippines during World War II as experienced by the authors and their friends and relatives as children. It consists of seventy-three episodes of pre-war and wartime experiences from 1941---when the Japanese invaded the Philippines--- to 1945 when the Americans liberated the country. The episodes range from remembrances of idyllic childhoods

to nightmarish memories of the horrendous killings of parents by the enemy during the Battle of Manila. They narrate how children experienced the expected fear and horror of war, and also witnessed the unexpected humanity shown by the conqueror toward the vanquished.
