Mini Makers and Me

Mini Makers and Me And the best part is...we tidy up!

Mini Makers and Me is a place where children (and their families) can splodge paint, squelch clay, explore textures and create a mini masterpiece to take home at the end of each session.

Today we said goodbye to three very special Arty Explorers as they get ready for their next big adventure at secondary school. For the past 6 years they have been an important part of our art club. I wish them all the best for the future. Keep being amazing and creative πŸ₯°πŸ€©

Today was our last Arty Explorers Club before we break for the summer holidays. We continued our study of Yellena James and her underwater art. Using our bubble painted backgrounds from last week we used sharpies to add colourful coral, seaweed and sea creatures! 🐠🐬🐑🐟
Wishing all my Arty Explorers a very happy summer and I look forward to seeing you in the Autumn for some more creative fun. 🀩

This week my amazing Arty Explorers looked at the contemporary work of artist Yellena James. James creates beautiful paintings based on underwater scenes. We took inspiration from her paintings and explored bubble painting to create our own underwater backgrounds. Next week we will add sea creatures 🐠🐑🐳

🌈 Inspired by the colourful concentric circle art of Alma Thomas (see previous post) my wonderful Arty Explorers explored tie dye this week! Using elastic bands we tied up a white t-shirt to create either a spiral, scrunched, bulls eye or striped pattern. We then put on gloves and aprons and added the colourful dyes. I can’t wait to see how they turn out! 🌈

🌈 This week my fabulous Arty Explorers discovered the colourful work of Alma Thomas. Born in 1891 Alma was one of the first African American women to exhibit her work in a major art exhibition. We drew inspiration from Alma’s work and created our own rainbow coloured concentric circle art! 🌈

This week my lovely Arty Explorers continued their project on Women Artists. This week we looked at the beautiful work of Devon based artist Sarah Gillespie. Sarah carefully studies British moths and produces breathtaking mezzotint engravings. Inspired by her work my Arty Explorers made their own wearable moth art! β™₯️
