VE Day, Victory in Europe Day.
May 8. 80th anniversary.I had the honor; the privilege to meet and interview many WW II service men , women & home front citizens hear what this day was like. For my Uncle Harve O'Brien, it was a lucky 3-day leave in Paris.
For my Dad, Galen, ( left below ) in the South Pacific on the USS St Croix near Okinawa, it was far from over. We would still lose thousands more in the Battle of Okinawa's final month. Then it was still the terrifying future of the invasion of Japan. Salute to all from the biggest war in history. Prayers to avoid war at all costs. Where there is already war, finding a way to peace through strength is my personal belief.
