Saydel Families: As we begin another school year, we want to share an important update regarding our School Resource Officer.
After four years serving the Saydel community, Deputy Worrall has been promoted to Sergeant with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and will be transitioning into a new role. With this change we are excited to welcome Deputy Sherman as Saydel’s new School Resource Officer. Deputy Sherman is already very familiar with our community, having graduated from Saydel High School in 2014.
After graduation, he attended Iowa Central Community College, where he played football and studied Criminal Justice. He joined the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in 2018 as a detention officer and became a Deputy in 2019. He has since served at the Polk County Courthouse and spent approximately four years working patrol.
Deputy Sherman and his high school sweetheart are married and have two boys. Outside of work, he enjoys staying active, working out, spending time outdoors with his family, and being involved in his children’s activities and the community.
Deputy Sherman states, “I am incredibly excited for the opportunity to return to Saydel in a new role as a School Resource Officer. Having graduated from Saydel myself, it is especially meaningful to come back and serve the school and community that played such an important part in my own life. I look forward to building positive relationships with students, staff, and families while helping create a safe, welcoming environment where students can learn and grow.”
Sergeant Worrall will work alongside Deputy Sherman during the transition as he begins his new role. Please join us in welcoming Deputy Sherman back to Saydel.
