Greenwood Elementary-DMPS

Thank you to Greenwood families, staff, and community members for their outstanding participation in DMPS OneRun2025. With nearly 150 registrations, our school was well represented! Students will greatly benefit from a portion of the $51,000 raised, which will be utilized to purchase math intervention materials and support our family events. We are WOODCHUCKS! We are BETTER TOGETHER!

The OneRun is fast approaching. Don't forget to sign up and join us on Saturday, October 18th to raise funds for Greenwood!

The Iowa Department of Education recently released the results of the Iowa School Performance Profile, which measures each school’s performance in student achievement, academic growth, and overall attendance.

We are proud to share that Greenwood Elementary grew by over fifty points from last year and moved up to a COMMENDABLE RATING! The efforts by students, staff, families, and the larger school community have increased student achievement and closed learning gaps with huge gains in both Literacy and Math. This rating speaks to the way we all work together as a team to support each student and demonstrate that we are every single day!

Mrs. Inman has a new partner in leadership! Please welcome Sarah Aldag as our Associate Principal for the 2025-2026 school year.

Sarah brings a wealth of knowledge from her previous roles as an Instructional Coach, Professional Development Consultant, and Teacher. Most recently, she worked at Greenwood as a Behavior Strategist.

We are grateful her positive impact will continue as she serves our students, staff, and families in this new position!

Watch out Y-Camp, the Woodchucks are on their way! Today, several of our incoming fifth graders boarded a bus for a week of fun and friendship at Y-Camp in Boone.

We are so grateful to Live Wild Iowa and the YMCA for making the opportunity possible for all of our 5th graders!

Greenwood Elementary is in need of two Guest Educators for the 2025-2026 School Year. These positions report Monday thru Friday from 7:15am-3:00pm to fill teacher absences or provide extra student/classroom support.

Building assigned guest educators receive $180/day with an opportunity to accrue hours toward full-time benefits.

Postion requirements include at least an associate’s degree or 60 semester hours of post-secondary schooling. Additionally, candidates must also complete a 15-hour Substitute Authorization course through Heartland AEA, which could be paid for by DMPS.

We made a lot of progress this year as we aligned the efforts of our school community to be . At last night’s school board meeting, Greenwood Principal, Jenny Inman, highlighted the collective actions that led to high levels of academic growth in Literacy this past school year.
