🍎 Clarification of School Meal Information

Free meals have NOT ended in St. Charles Parish Public Schools.

Students whose families meet USDA income eligibility guidelines will continue to receive free meals after completing the Free & Reduced Meal Application. In fact, approximately half of SCPPS students qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

Families are encouraged to complete the application now at www.myschoolapps.com so benefits are available when school begins.

For students who do not meet the USDA eligibility guidelines, breakfast and lunch may be purchased through the traditional meal program. While families pay $2.00-$2.35 for a student lunch, it costs approximately $5.30 to prepare and serve each meal, meaning SCPPS covers about 56% of the cost of each meal. St. Charles Parish Public Schools continues to invest local funds to help keep school meals affordable for families.

During the past six years, SCPPS was able to provide meals at no cost to all students through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). Beginning this school year, the district is returning to the traditional USDA school meal program, where families who meet USDA income guidelines may qualify for free or reduced-price meals by completing an application.

As you continue preparing for the 2026-2027 school year, here's a brief overview of the SCPPS dress code guidelines to keep in mind.

👕 Shirt - collared white or designated school color shirt. (Students may wear official school spirit shirts as designated by the school.)

🩳 Pants/Shorts/Skirts/Skorts/Jumpers – Navy or khaki; should not be worn shorter than three inches above the top of the kneecap. As a guide, pants/shorts/skirts/ skorts/jumpers cannot be worn lower than 2” below the navel. When skirts/dresses/jumpers are worn, shorts should be worn underneath.

🆔 ID Card – All students must wear appropriately, as designed by grade band.

There are three tiers of take-in and dismissal times within St. Charles Parish Public Schools, allowing time for buses 🚌 to conduct multiple runs in addition to minimizing traffic on our roadways.

To ensure a smooth transition to the start of the new school year, we will once again open with staggered start dates.

🏫 Students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade whose last names begin with A through K will attend their first day of school on Monday, August 10, will remain home on Tuesday, August 11, and will attend daily beginning Wednesday, August 12.

🏫 Students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade whose last names begin with L through Z will begin attending school daily on Tuesday, August 11.

🏫 Pre-kindergarten students whose last names begin with A through K will attend their first day of school on Monday, August 17, will remain home on Tuesday, August 18, and will attend daily beginning Wednesday, August 19.

🏫 ️Pre-kindergarten students whose last names begin with L through Z will begin attending school daily on Tuesday, August 18.
