Hooray for our student Golden Goodwin. He booked a very funny national commercial for Eero — playing a dad overwhelmed by technology.

When auditions were in-person, Golden was a heavy booker. He came to us needing help with his tapes, and we gave him some fundamental skills that are easy, fun and no-cost. It’s helped him get traction, and he’s booking regularly again. We’re thrilled and cheering for his success.

For October, we’re going back-to-the-basics in one of our fundamental 501 classes — “Build It!”

Learn how to master storytelling in your self-tapes by building tension. All scenes build — it’s in the writing. This month, we’ll learn how to find that build and bring it alive in your tapes. When you build the tension, the decision-makers will think you’re a good actor. And when you don’t…eeek!

We send a huge congratulations to Dani Payne. She has a nice supporting role in the studio feature comedy “Coyote Vs. Acme.” This is a hilarious, uplifting film in the spirit of Looney Tunes, and we’re very excited for her.

Dani came to us with decent self-tapes, but we were able to sharpen her skills so her tapes now showcase her acting skills and training. She’s been on a nice booking streak this year. This summer, she appeared in a Netflix film and HBO series. Way to go Dani!

We’re thrilled about Dana Millican walking the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival. She’s in a large supporting role in Beth de Araujo’s crime thriller “Josephine.”

Dana has been a heavy booker since working with us and she has more projects coming out soon. Way to go Dana. We’re excited for you.

We’re celebrating Diane Sargent’s booking of the Lifetime original movie “Faith and Forgiveness” A Duck Dynasty Love Story. Diane has always been a heavy booker, and we’re excited that we’ve been able to help dial in her self-tape space to give her more advantages.

Kudos to our student, Janis Guzman who booked a nice supporting role on the Tubi film “Sleeping Beauty Next Door.” She was one of our very first students, and she’s carved out a nice niche in the rom-coms and commercials, booking regularly since then.

Come visit me today at the New Mexico Film and Media Conference at the Historic Albuquerque Railyards. I’m part of the Talent Connection Roundtable along with local and national casting directors. We all want to help New Mexico actors with their careers be able to book work.

Our final special guest for our upcoming September Self-Tape 301 class will be Artios Award winning LA casting director Michael Nicolo. He partners with Anya Colloff at Coloff / Nicolo Casting.

Our students will be laughing a bunch in a special comedy workshop. Michael is known for casting FOX’ “Animal Control,” ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat” and even Netflix’ “Ridiculous Six.” You can also catch his work on ABC’s hit dramedy series “High Potential.”

It’s his first time with our 301, so we are very excited for our advanced students to have a chance to work with him in September.

We’re excited to announce Austin Andres will be a special guest for our upcoming September Self-Tape 301 class. He’s an LA casting director and casting associate who works with some of the top casting offices.

You can see his work on ABC’s “The Rookie” and “The Rookie North” as well as the upcoming season of Netflix’ "Avatar: The Last Airbender."

He is a proud Michigan alum and the announcer for the LA Traffic Baseball team. He is also a gifted teacher. We are very excited for him to work with our advanced students in September.
