Sleep advice that doesn’t make you feel like the problem (because you’re not)
1. Notice the moment advice turns into blame If a resource says your child is difficult, you’re inconsistent, or you just need to try harder, that’s judgment, not support Your child’s sleep can be hard without anyone being at fault
2. Start with what your child is communicating Sensory needs, disability, development, regulation, and connection can all shape sleep. Looking for patterns is more useful than forcing a standard method
3. Let go of the pressure to make sleep look typical A successful night might mean fewer wake-ups, less distress, or a routine that actually works for your family. Progress doesn't need to look like someone else’s chart
4. Ask for strategies that can bend Rigid schedules can fall apart when needs change. You deserve options that account for bedtime anxiety, sensory preferences, illness, travel, and real life
5. Keep your expertise in the plan You know what helps your child settle, what escalates them, and what your family can sustain. Support should build on that knowledge, not talk over it You're allowed to ask why a recommendation fits your child before trying it
6. Choose support that treats you like a capable parent You don’t need another lecture about habits or consistency. You need practical next steps, room to adapt, and someone who believes you know your child

standard sleep advice may sound simple but at least now i know my sensory-seeking kid isn’t “failing,” the plan just wasn’t built for their nervous system

5 signs standard sleep advice isn’t built for your child (and it doesn't mean you’re failing)
1. the routine works for a few nights, then falls apart a sensory need, developmental shift, or nervous-system overload can change what sleep feels possible
2. bedtime gets harder when you try to be more consistent for some children, rigid steps can add pressure when their body needs safety, movement, or connection
3. you’ve tried every tip and everyone says to just stick with it when advice ignores disability, communication, or sensory differences, persistence isn't the missing piece
4. your child seems more dysregulated after sleep training distress is information. their nervous system may be telling you the method doesn't fit their needs
5. you feel like the problem is you you’re not doing it wrong. sleep support can be built around your child’s neurology, not against it

Bedtime battles aren't always about being difficult.

Sometimes your toddler is overtired. Sometimes they're not tired enough. Sometimes they're hungry, overstimulated, seeking sensory input, struggling with separation, or simply going through a developmental change.

Sleep problems usually have a reason behind them—and figuring out the why can make a huge difference.

Save this for the next bedtime battle, and share it with another tired parent who needs it.

🎉 free this weekend 💸
I wrote a poetry book about motherhood… the real kind.
Nursery Crimes 2: Terrible Twos & True Love
it’s love so big it aches… mixed with “please go to sleep before I lose it”
I cried reading it back before I published it, which felt like my cue to stop hiding it.
it’s honest, a little heavy, and still has those “did that just happen!?” moments we somehow survive.
if you’re in it, have been in it, or just need to feel seen… go grab it while it’s free!

Terrible Twos & True Love: Nursery Crimes, Volume II

I know what it feels like to finish writing… and then freeze at formatting.
The TOC breaks.
The spine math makes no sense.
KDP feels like a maze.

I’m opening 5 beta spots for authors who are stuck at the publishing stage. This is technical guidance, not marketing hype.
If you’ve got a draft and you’re ready to finally get it live, comment PUBLISH or DM me BETA.
I’ll send details first to those who raise their hand.
