Due to early brainwave changes, science has proven the learning stage between ages 0-7 is one of the most important of our lives. An Ohio State University study estimated that children who are read five books each day may hear approximately 1.4 million more words by kindergarten than children who are never regularly read to. 👀

Even reading just one book each day was associated with exposure to approximately 290,000 additional words by age five. 📚

Every story introduces new vocabulary, encourages questions, strengthens listening skills, and helps prepare children for the classroom.

A major analysis of 213 school-based social-emotional learning programs found that participating students demonstrated improved behavior, emotional skills, and academic achievement - including an average gain of 11 percentile points.

Max Rhymes began with a simple but powerful belief: every child deserves access to books and the opportunity to build skills that will help them succeed.

Our mission is to partner with kindergarten classrooms in at-risk communities and give every student their own set of the award-winning Max Rhymes five-book children’s series - completely free.

Through fun stories, children can strengthen early literacy while learning meaningful lessons about emotions, confidence, relationships, and positive choices.

We’re not simply giving away books. We’re helping children build home libraries, discover the joy of reading, and develop skills they can carry throughout their lives.

You don’t need funny character voices, an elaborate reading nook, or an hour of uninterrupted time to make reading meaningful.

You simply need to keep showing up!

Read one story before bed. Look through a few pages after school. Let your child choose the same favorite book for the tenth time. Consistent reading helps children strengthen their vocabulary, comprehension, confidence, and love of learning.
