How to clean your birdbath and stop algae is the number one question I get on my water feature DIY videos. This video should cover all of them.

Tips not mentioned in the video: Instead of spraying out all the water, you can attach a fitted hose to the pump and water your plants with the nutrient-rich water, or simply pour the water on them before rinsing or cleaning.

Algae control: Using the jet setting on your hose sprayer helps blast algae off surfaces, but if you allow the it to form a skin, it can take 3x as long to clean! That's why I spray it out daily. If algae does start to take over, use bleach or vinegar away from any plants. This also acts as a disinfectant. Spray thoroughly until no bleach or vinegar smell remains.
