🌱 Be a WCE Weeding Warrior and help our pollinator gardens thrive this summer! Sign up here: https://m.signupgenius.com/ #!/showSignUp/10C0B4DAFA72AABFEC34-64214949-2026?useFullSite=false

🐝 Did you know we have TWO beautiful pollinator gardens at Westerly Creek? Our first garden was created in 2020 by our second graders and is located along 28th Avenue. Our second garden was created in 2022 near the art room on the playground. All of the plants are perennials and native to Colorado and our second graders help to maintain them during the school year.

🪏 To keep these spaces thriving and beautiful over the summer, we could really use a little extra love from our amazing community!

👩🏻‍🌾 We are looking for volunteers to help with weeding and pruning. The schedule is completely flexible!

The Commitment: The gardens need 2 hours total each week (1 hour per garden).

Your Schedule: Find a week that works for you. During that week, you can go any day and any time that best fits your schedule.

Mix & Match: Sign up for just one hour all summer, or as many weeks as you’d like. Every little bit helps!

What to bring: Please bring your own gardening tools. You can dispose of any clippings in the school’s green compost bins.

🌼 We are so incredibly grateful for your help!

📕 Book It to the Creek Starts TODAY!

🐺 WCE’s annual 100-day read-a-thon begins May 18 and runs through August 26! Students are encouraged to read every day to help prevent the “summer slide,” earn fun prizes, and support our school community.

🐛 Students in 3rd–5th grade will receive a personalized tracking link through their DPSK email account to log their reading minutes online. A paper tracker, instructions and additional information will also come home in student folders.

Parents of students from ECE to 2nd grade will receive the link in their email.

Reading counts in many ways! Independent reading, being read to, audiobooks, I-Ready, and ST Math all count toward minutes.

⏰ Students who average:

• 1 hour/day (1st–5th grade)

• 30 minutes/day (ECE & Kindergarten)

will earn Wolf Pack status and be invited to a special celebration this fall! You can find all Book It to the Creek information on the PTA website: https://thewcepta.com/bookit

✅ Don’t forget to sign up for a free My Denver Card! The card gives Denver youth access to recreation centers, pools, programs, museums, the zoo, and also works as a Denver Public Library card for checking out books and audiobooks.
