That one time (?) spending a ton of money made zero difference. NOTE: First Grade First costs schools nothing and produces an average of 1.8 academic years' growth each year a student is in the program. The answer is not complicated, but YOU have to do something. Colorado spent $231 million to help young children catch up on reading. But rates of kids with significant deficiencies only worsened. The READ Act program still has not produced any significant improvement in the reading skills of the students it targeted

What a great week. And what a great year it's going to be!!
First week of First Grade First at three Denver schools: completed! We're already smiling. Wonderful new kids, beloved "old" kids, assessments to tell us where to start them this year. And an AMAZING group of volunteer tutors who have jumped right in and are making this work their own. Hooray!
