It’s race week!! The Wine & Dine races kick off on Friday Nov 1 at Disney World in Orlando, FL, which means 2:30am wake up calls on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the 5k, 10k, and half-marathon races! 😴🤪

(It also means Mickey waffles every morning when we get back to the hotel, so no complaints here 😍) 🧇

These are our *favorite* running events of the year, as it takes place during the Walk Disney World Wine & Dine Festival at EPCOT, and culminates in a fabulous after party. 🎉

Functionally, this weekend’s races serve as a great touch-point check-in on our training progress toward the RunDisney races in January, the infamous D***y Challenge (5k, 10k, half-marathon, FULL marathon, increasing distances every day for 4 days). I’ve been training since July, and I am pleased with how my endurance, cardio, recovery, and overall leg and core strength progress is coming along!

So hopefully, we feel really good at all 3 of this weekend’s races and don’t need any big shifts in our training regimen and it’s NOT an “oh no” situation where we need to really double down and play catch-up with our fitness development. 😅🤞🏽

Just a reminder, in January, I’m representing Team AFSP, and I would be so grateful if you could *please donate* to my fundraiser for the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention. The work that AFSP does is life-changing and even life-saving, and even $10 makes a significant difference. 🩵🩵🩵

This is Mental Health Awareness Week, and the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention offers amazing resources for those who might be struggling with mental health themselves, or who want to know how to best support someone in their world who might be struggling.

The work that AFSP does is powerful and so crucial. I'm proud to be representing them in January during my RunDisney race events!

2000m benchmark row at Orangetheory Fitness all around the world today! My best time is 7:34:26 (7min 34sec 26 hundredths of a second), and that was 2 years ago. I rowed a 7:42:66 this past April.

I found this great chart on Reddit about average spilt times to aim for to hit a certain time. Looks like I should go for between 1:50 and 1:52 per 500m pace to beat my best time!

Here we go! 🧡

Accountability post! 8.78 miles run so far this week.
This weekend’s prescribed long run is 11 miles, longest training run this year thus far!

That’s a LOT of miles to do on a treadmill, so I’d love to run at least some of those outside. I might do it Sunday instead of Saturday because the weather is supposed to be cloudier…TBD!

Adjusted this week (week 10 of 28 weeks of runDisney D***y training) to attend an Orangetheory Fitness specialty workout on Tuesday morning, instead of their treadmill workout. This is because:

1) I will complete my prescribed miles to run this week with or without that particular workout being a running one ✅

2) this specialty workout is called PSL (press, squat, lunge) and is a cute way of kicking off the fall season (a play on PSL drinks - pumpkin spice lattes) 🍁

3) the content of the PSL workout will support my running, too (esp the squats and lunges, strengthening my legs) 🦵🏽

It’s 💯 okay to make adjustments to your workout schedule, provided there’s a supportive reason for it! 🩷

Sunday: the day when I review the workouts I did the week before and prep my workout schedule for the week ahead.

Last week was a super light training week for me: I did two *awesome* strength workouts at OrangeTheory in Las Vegas, and then ran 4.06 miles back in Colorado yesterday. Normally, I would be more in the 18-25 mileage range for the week.

I feel completely fine about this - One week of minimal running won’t destroy my progress, plus not having my running my shoes with me on my trip have me a great excuse to hit the weights again 😍

More reflection on last week and prep for this week to come via a video later today once Tony and I are back from our Jeep trail ride! 🩷💪🏽
