Join Colorado Law Professor P. Deep Gulasekaram as he discusses: (1) racial profiling in immigration jurisprudence, from its origins in border enforcement to its current use in major American cities, (2) the disjuncture between race-conscious immigration enforcement under the Fourth Amendment and colorblind college admissions after the Supreme Court’s 2023 decision in SFFA v. Harvard, in which the Court concluded that a person’s race may not be considered as a criterion under the Equal Protection doctrine, and (3) the relationship between so-called “sanctuary” laws and federal responses, including race-conscious immigration enforcement, national guard deployments, DOJ litigation against municipalities, and grant claw-back attempts by federal agencies against non-cooperating jurisdictions.
