Congratulations to Chandler Reilly for his outstanding faculty of MSU Denver’s College of Business Award. This is the overall award, this award is for outstanding performance in teaching, scholarship, and service. Let me add that Chandler is the first ever rookie, i.e., first year professor to win this award!
You can never say it too many times: for people who are seeking to hire excellent, hard working, non-lunch tax faculty, George Mason University’s Economics Department is mentoring their graduate students to be ready and be outstanding teachers, scholars, and colleagues. Chandler is not on Facebook but his mentors are and I want to tell them: Thank you! Peter Boettke Chris Coyne Vincent Geloso Rosolino Candela, Peter Leeson, etc.

We (well, I definitely am) are very excited about having our students to be exposed to mainline economics, Classicsl Liberalism, history, political & legal philosophy. We are very grateful to the Liberty Fund, Douglas Den Uyl, and Amy Sutliff Willis. I can’t say enough about how great this is! We are looking forward to complete and expand our book series. This is just amazing!!!

Professors Alexandre Padilla and Chandler Reilly challenge proposed price gouging laws in their latest op-ed for The Independent Institute.
Key points:
Despite decreasing overall inflation, grocery prices remain a concern
Proposed federal price gouging laws may do more harm than good
Price controls often lead to shortages and hidden costs
The root causes of inflation need to be addressed instead
Read the full article to understand why well-intentioned policies can have unintended consequences: https://www.independent.org/news/article.asp?id=15033

I had the privilege to discuss with Debbie Brown, President of the Colorado Business Roundtable, why immigration is such a complicated issue. We discussed the challenges in understanding immigration laws and policies, the need for reforming such policies, and the crucial importance for us academics and social scientists to share research findings on immigration concerns in a clear, concise, and non-condescending manner. This includes addressing concerns about both documented and undocumented immigration. More importantly, when communicating with policymakers and the public, it is crucial for us academics to be empathetic, including toward those who have concerns about immigration.
The Colorado Business Roundtable is a non-profit organization that champions the business community in Colorado. As academics, we must strive to bridge the gap between research and public understanding to facilitate informed discussions on complex issues like immigration.

I was interviewed by Denver Post's journalist, Saja Hindi, to discuss the likely consequences that will ensue if DACA was terminated. That piece was featured both in the Greeley Tribune: https://www.greeleytribune.com/2023/07/23/daca-ending-alternatives-colorado-undocumented-immigrants/ and Denver Post: https://www.denverpost.com/2023/07/23/daca-ending-alternatives-colorado-undocumented-immigrants/
I will be teaching the Economic Policy Analysis course this Fall semester both in-class and via Zoom on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 8:20 pm. This semester the issue will be about immigration policy. Readings will be provided at zero price.
With DACA’s days likely numbered, Colorado advocates urge young immigrants to seek other avenues to keep working
Research shows an end to federal immigration program could have far-reaching implications on Colorado economy

I often say, people should read more economics, more public choice, and definitely promote mainline economics. I recently decided to say that people should read more Peter Boettke and now I am saying they should wear his quote more often too! I am forever grateful to Pete for making me a better teacher, a better scholar, and a better advisor to students.
