DU Excelling Leaders Institute

We are extremely proud to see our ELI Family contribute to the charge of enacting racial justice change through the Black Lives Matter movement. We want you to know, we are with you, we see you. In a way to show that, our Co-Head Coordinator, Peaches Aragon, put together a resource guide for our QTBIPOC students! We hope this guide reminds you to take care of yourself and the ones around you. Let’s prevent burnout and take care of our mental health, together!

Congrats ELI graduates!! We hope to see you, friends, family, and other ELI students tomorrow for our virtual celebration! A little to some of the graduating ELI students at their first ELI graduation!

The Excelling Leaders Institute has always been dedicated to creating inclusive and safe spaces at DU for marginalized students. We stand with our Black students and Black people across America as they protest deep injustices, police brutality, and racism. We will be participating in Black Out Tuesday (more info in story). For a DU POC community space, anti-racism education, ways to support protests, and mental health resources for Black students, please swipe! This we have two seniors who have done some incredible things during their time at DU and are off to do even more after graduation!

to community action. Three years ago, ELI members participated in a protest supporting that specifically drew attention to the treatment of students of color on DU’s campus.

This work is still so important today! We encourage everyone to take a moment to research and share what happened to Ahmaud Arbery.

This week, we received the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of our ELI students, Jacob Del Hierro. Jacob was a part of the ELI Class of 2018 and will be dearly missed. We will be taking time to come together as a community this Friday at 6pm to remember and honor him. Rest in power.
