MSU Denver Chapter of NCTE

Dear English Educator,

NCTE is coming to Denver in fall 2025, gathering 8000+ English educators from around the country and the world. The conference is November 20-23 at the Denver Convention Center, and you have an exciting opportunity to contribute to the event—and attend for free.

We need volunteers to help with a range of duties, from providing just a few hours of time during the conference to helping with committee planning. (Fear not; NCTE’s professional staff does all the complicated and onerous stuff.) You don’t need experience or expertise. Colleagues will help you, and you can boost your career by joining a network of professional friends from across Colorado and the region.

Volunteering at least six hours will give you free conference registration. More importantly, you’ll be able to hear and meet prominent speakers and learn from other teachers and ELA experts. For example, the 2024 NCTE convention in Boston featured luminaries ranging from Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to actress and SNL star Kate McKinnon, plus dozens of authors, many of whom you’ve read or taught.

If you’d like to join our team—or simply learn more about opportunities--please message me with your name and contact info; optionally, include a note if you want to help with planning. You might eventually help with pre-conference promotion, public relations, registration, hospitality, or running the local headquarters office during the convention. We need everyone: teachers at any level, pre-K to 20, pre-service to veterans. We welcome program directors, department chairs, curriculum folks...everyone!

We are hosting another Open Mic!! Thanks again to Mercury Cafe! This one is Saturday Oct. 5th from 10a-1:30p!

Our first Bi-weekly Coffee in the Commons was a success!

We want to give a big thank you to everyone coming and attending our Open Mic Bruch today! It was a huge success and we have all of you to thank for that! Also a great big thank you to Mercury Cafe Denver for hosting us and allowing us to use their equipment!

Attention everyone!! MSU’s NCTE Student Affiliate will be holding a fundraiser at Mercury Cafe, in Denver, on August 10th from 10a-2p!! We are trying to raise money for our club to go to Boston in Novemberto attend the annual NCTE Conference! The event is free but we do ask that you order something for our generous hosts as they are letting us use their space! There will also be a Hunger Games themed raffle and a $1 poem station! If you would like to get up and speak there will also be a sign-up sheet! Hope to see you there!
