MSU Denver Anthropology students Natalia Carvajal and Quinn Moore traveled with Professor Josef Garrett to Auckland, New Zealand to present their film “Behind the Fence: Legacies of Fear and Resilience in Los Alamos and Camp Amache,” including a visit with the Consul General of Japan. Thank you to the entire 12-person student and faculty crew who worked on the film!
On Monday 4 August, Consul General MATSUI exchanged views with the organizers of "What Have We Missed? – On the 80th Memorial of Hiroshima and Nagasaki," currently being held at Central City Library in Auckland, with a presentation by researchers at Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Drawing on his range of knowledge and experience in foreign service including the work with and inside the IAEA, Consul General MATSUI shared with the organizers the importance of making every effort to ensure that nuclear weapons are never used again, pending the total elimination of nuclear weapons, implementing measures at all levels towards a world without nuclear weapons, and also passing on the experiences including those of hibakusha to future generations based on the facts and witnesses.
We encourage everyone to visit the exhibition.
