As a daddy and someone who reads for pleasure every single day, this brought me so much joy.

We can’t let phones, tablets, AI, and video games rob the gift of reading from kids. Parents: get a library card, buy books, read with your kids, read alongside your kids, turn off the wifi.

Educators: read with your students, beg for more books, look into choice reading, create sacred reading time in your schedule where everything else stops and everyone reads. Stretches with no worksheets, no catch-up time, just reading.

I speak from personal experience when I say that a love of reading gives kids something they can return to for comfort, growth, curiosity, and joy for the rest of their lives.
