Some of the most important work we do is growing good people. We spend a lot of time building emotional intelligence-things like giving and accepting compliments, expressing feelings and needs, accepting feedback, solving conflict, and repairing relationships. It’s an ongoing process for these little humans who haven’t been on the planet very long. Sometimes it comes with a lot of pushing and pulling, but we love every minute of it.

We’re all about joy, beauty, good books, and relationships, so of course we have a staff book club. Tonight we explored the cultural and social hierarchies of the Regency Era with Pride and Prejudice. Mostly though, we just laughed and ate really good food.

Many kindergartens no longer have time to play. We have learned that nature, beauty, art, and a healthy dose of play are essential to the children’s ability to flourish and thrive. Happy children can learn.

Joyful community is one of our core values, and we sure felt the love this week! Delivering valentines, playing games, and making fondue! So much fun!

Post 326 of things the adults had nothing to do with: Valentines celebrations. We invited the children to find a method for storing their Valentines. I expected decorated shoeboxes, their mailboxes, etc. Instead, the children made decorated spaces in their cubbies. They also took it upon themselves to decorate the classroom.

The kids are doing an incredible job with our latest art project. We are learning proportion and perspective with ratio grids. Kudos to our students and their fabulous art teacher, Katie Zubeldia.

The Lewis and Clark Expedition. Much of our learning happens by reading, writing about, and discussing beautiful books. Then at the end of a study, children are asked to create evidence of their entire learning for that study. This can be a written report, art, drama, or 3-dimensional project. We love seeing their creativity and collaboration-so much more meaningful and engaging than a test! Here are a few projects about Lewis and Clark from our Trailblazers.
