Real Skills for Real Life
Weld Central Middle School is excited to welcome Dante Saenz as our new 6th grade language arts teacher. For Saenz, teaching is about much more than reading books and writing papers. He wants his students to develop skills they can carry with them far beyond the classroom, skills like communicating clearly, understanding different perspectives, thinking critically, and making their voices heard.
One of Saenz’s biggest goals is to help students see the world through the eyes of others. In his classroom, students will explore different cultures, time periods, identities, and experiences through reading. He believes every student should feel that their voice matters and that they have an equal place in the classroom. While ELA classes teach students how to read and write, Saenz sees those skills as tools for everyday life. Learning how to communicate an idea, support an opinion, listen to another perspective, and understand information are skills students will use long after middle school.
