Fall Festival TOMORROW at AXL Academy! Everyone is welcome!

Hi neighbors! Looking for a fun way to spend Thursday evening? Bring the family and join us at AXL Academy’s Fall Festival! You don’t need to attend AXL to join the fun. This celebration is open to our entire community!

Enjoy a petting zoo, horseback rides, bounce houses, face painting, games, music, local craft vendors, delicious food trucks, and more!

WHEN: Thursday, September 24, from 5–7 PM
WHERE: AXL Academy parking lot

Admission is FREE! Tickets are required for selected activities. Food and vendor purchases are sold separately.

Calling All Local Vendors!

Would you like to sell your products at AXL Academy’s Fall Festival this Thursday, September 24?

Vendor spaces are available for a $25 fee. Vendors must bring their own table and chairs, arrive at 4:00 PM for setup, and remain for the entire festival from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. AXL will provide each vendor with a designated space.

Only new, handmade, or craft items that are appropriate for families may be sold.

To reserve a space, email [email protected]. Once approved, you will receive a link to pay the $25 vendor fee.

Vendor Notice: Vendors participate as independent sellers and are responsible for their own products, equipment, setup, sales, payment processing, permits, licenses, insurance, sales-tax obligations, and compliance with applicable laws. Vendors participate at their own risk. AXL Academy is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property, vendor sales, or injuries arising from a vendor’s products, equipment, or activities. AXL Academy reserves the right to decline or remove products or displays that are unsafe, inappropriate, or inconsistent with this family-friendly event.

AXL Academy’s Fall Festival is only two days away!

Join us this Thursday, September 24, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM for an evening of fun for the entire community.

Enjoy the Koda Ranch Petting Zoo, feed the goats, take a horseback ride, jump in the bounce houses, get your face painted, play games, enjoy music, visit local craft vendors, grab dinner from our food trucks, and more!

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome. Tickets will be available for select activities, while food, drinks, and crafts may be purchased directly from our vendors.

Expeditionary Learning in Action!

At AXL, learning extends far beyond the classroom. During a recent fieldwork experience, our scholars visited the [Morrison Nature Center](https://www.auroragov.org/things_to_do/parks__open_space___trails/nature___open_space/nature_centers/morrison_nature_center), where they explored the connection between nature and mental health.

Students learned how spending time outdoors can help reduce stress, improve our mood, and support our overall well-being. Experiences like this give our scholars the opportunity to connect classroom learning with the world around them in meaningful and memorable ways.

Our 7th-grade Health scholars recently took their learning beyond the classroom with a visit to Bodies: The Science Within at the Denver Pavilions!

Students explored the fascinating inner workings of the human body and gained a deeper understanding of anatomy, health, and how our body systems work together. This memorable experience brought their classroom lessons to life and gave our scholars an exciting new way to learn.

PENNY RACES ARE COMING TO AXL ACADEMY!

From September 14 through September 18, scholars can help their classes compete in our Penny Races fundraiser, organized by PEAK.

Pennies and paper bills add points to your class total. Silver coins can be placed in another class’s container to subtract points.

Penny = 1 point
Nickel = negative 5 points
Dime = negative 10 points
Quarter = negative 25 points
$1 bill = 100 points
$5 bill = 500 points

Collection tables will be available at the front and back of the school during dismissal.

One elementary class and one middle school class will win. Each winning class will receive $25 for a class celebration and the opportunity to slime an eligible staff member at Fall Fest!

Winners will be announced at Fall Fest. Start saving those coins and bills!

Del 14 al 18 de septiembre, los estudiantes podrán ayudar a sus clases a competir en nuestra recaudación de fondos Carreras de Monedas, organizada por PEAK.

Las monedas de un centavo y los billetes suman puntos al total de su clase. Las monedas plateadas pueden colocarse en el recipiente de otra clase para restarle puntos.

Fuel learning with a healthy lunch.

A nutritious lunch does more than satisfy hunger. It gives students the energy they need to stay focused, participate in class, and finish the school day strong.

When packing your child's lunch, aim for a balanced meal that includes:

• Protein to help keep them full, such as turkey, chicken, cheese, yogurt, eggs, or hummus.
• Whole grains like whole wheat bread, crackers, tortillas, or brown rice for lasting energy.
• Fruits and vegetables to provide vitamins and nutrients that support healthy growth and learning.
• Water to keep them hydrated and ready to learn throughout the day.

Want to make lunchtime more exciting? Let your child help choose healthy foods while you're grocery shopping or involve them in packing their lunch. When children have a say in what's packed, they're more likely to eat and enjoy it.

Small changes can make a big difference. Try adding a colorful fruit, cutting sandwiches into fun shapes, or including a kind note to brighten their day.

Healthy habits at home help students thrive in the classroom, and every nutritious lunch is another step toward a successful school day.
