CVC Word Building Adventure
Reading becomes an exciting journey when we explore CVC words (consonant-vowel-consonant) together! 📚🔍
What You'll Need:
🔤 A CVC word book or story
🖍️ Colored markers or highlighters
👀 Curious young readers!
Activity Steps:
1. Choose the Right Book:
Select a book or story that's rich in CVC words. These are typically simple, early-reader books that focus on basic phonics.
2. Set the Stage:
Gather your child, the book, and some markers or highlighters.
3. Explain the Activity:
Let your child know that you're going on a CVC Word Hunt Adventure. Their mission? To find and highlight or circle CVC words as they read.
4. Start Reading:
Begin reading the book together, encouraging your child to pay close attention to the words. Whenever they come across a CVC word (like "fat," "cat," or "bat"), pause and celebrate their discovery!
5. Highlight or Circle:
Whenever a CVC word is spotted, let your child use the markers or highlighters to mark the word in the book. This makes the words stand out and adds a fun, interactive element to reading.
6. Discuss and Practice:
After reading, discuss the CVC words you found. Ask your child to read them aloud and create them using the letters as shown in slide five.
7. Create Your Own CVC Words:
Challenge your child to come up with their own CVC words. Create them with the letters and say them together.
8. Repeat the Adventure:
Continue your CVC Word Hunt Adventure with other books. As your child becomes more familiar with these words, you can introduce more complex books.
