At FSTS, we are beyond proud of the incredible young women we have the honor of walking alongside every day. đź’ś

This spring season, we celebrate young women who are graduating, earning their GEDs as young adults, overcoming obstacles, and continuing to push forward despite the hardships they’ve faced. Their stories are not defined by trauma, they are defined by strength, resilience, courage, and determination.

Whether it’s:
✨ Earning an Associate of Arts in Psychology
✨ Becoming the first in your family to graduate high school
✨ Finishing your junior year with honors
✨ Completing GED classes for your baby and your future
✨ Working through credit recovery to catch up after missed school
✨ Becoming class president
✨Being present for your own kiddos preschool graduation
✨ Or simply making it through the year with no new charges and continuing to show up every single day.

We see you. We are proud of you. We are here for you.

At FSTS, we believe every accomplishment matters. Every milestone is important. We serve survivors at every stage of their journey and meet them exactly where they are, because growth looks different for everyone, and every victory deserves to be celebrated. FSTS is more behind the scenes than headlines of sentencings, policy change and task forces; being with those who have experienced harm to learn from and ultimately serve is the core of why we exist; there is no justice for a survivor without service to their needs holistically.

Keep going, girls. You were made for great things. đź’«

Thank you for allowing us to be even a small part of your lives and for continuing to allow us to be part of these powerful moments with you. We are honored to cheer you on every step of the way.

Stop saying “she was trafficking herself.”

Children cannot legally consent to commercial s*x acts. That is not opinion. That is the law.

When a minor is involved in a commercial s*xual activity, they are a trafficking victim by definition. Period.

The language we use matters. Saying a child was “trafficking themselves” shifts blame away from the adults who exploited, purchased, groomed, manipulated, transported, profited from, or abused them. It places responsibility on the victim instead of the offender.

Let’s be clear:
🔸 A child cannot consent.
🔸 A child is never at fault.
🔸 If someone paid for that s*xual act, an adult made a choice.
🔸 The crime belongs to the exploiter — not the child.

Words can either protect children or further harm them.

We must stop criminalizing victims and start holding offenders accountable, including with how we frame language.

Believe children.
Educate yourself.
Watch your words.
Protect. Support. Report.

SB15 HAS PASSED THE HOUSE FLOOR! 🎉👏

This morning, SB15 passed the House floor and is now headed to the Governor’s desk! This legislation is a major step forward in protecting children, supporting survivors, and strengthening accountability by addressing the DEMAND side of human trafficking.

SB15 updates outdated and harmful language in Colorado law and sends a clear message: those who solicit children for commercial s*xual activity will face REAL consequences.

PROBATION WILL NO LONGER BE THE OPTION FOR EXPLOITING A CHILD!

This bill requires incarceration for those convicted of soliciting a child for commercial s*xual activity, because our children deserve protection, and survivors deserve justice.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to every survivor who bravely shared their story, stood up, and helped push this legislation forward. Your courage made this possible. ❤️

Thank you to the advocates who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, the law enforcement professionals who continue fighting for justice, and the incredible sponsors who never gave up on this bill and believed in the mission from day one.

This victory belongs to ALL of us.

Together, we are creating stronger protections, stronger voices, and stronger communities.

From Silenced To Saved — BE HEARD. 🔥

Tonight in Judiciary Committee, survivors and advocates secured an important win. SB26-015, Commercial Sexual Activity with a Child Offenses, passed unanimously.

The testimony was heartbreaking, experiences that no one should ever have to live through. I hope this bill becomes law to bring some measure of justice to survivors and help prevent future harm.

Three more bills ahead. It’s going to be a long night.

Colorado is ensuring children come first | OPINION 05/03/2026

Protecting children doesn’t mean we have to prohibit technology use. It means we must carefully provide guidance to developers and children. HB 26-1263 is a meaningful first step toward child‑centered, responsible AI in Colorado. We should all support policies like it that put families first while innovation moves forward.
