Bones Bugs and Botany nourishes embodied liberation through food and herbal medicine education.

Thank you to our incredible teacher and nutritional therapist Asia Dorsey @bonesbugsandbotany for sharing her multifaceted wisdom around gut mending, ancestral technology and community building. Love and care brewed through every moment of this hands-on immersive workshop from Asia helping to harvest and pray over the bison used to create this meal, thank you Sacred Return @sacredreturncolorado to the snacks offered of mackerel, sprouted nuts and berries, to the incredibly informative presentation that stimulated and connected our minds with our heart with our gut and we think with all three.

We reflected and remembered that for many indigenous cultures the gut is where the spirit lives. Our gut is what protects our boundaries.

We learned the importance of salt and being sure we are using mineral rich and well balanced salts that are appropriate for our bodies, environment and culture.

Teacher pro tip: add seaweed when cooking beans and lentils to get the right type of iodine and alleviate gas.

We gave gratitude to the earth, plants, animals, farmers and stewards who made the meal possible. This class taught us that the most liberated animals are the most healthy animals. We are connected and all one. When the land is healthy, then the animal is healthy, when the animal and land are healthy then the people are healthy. We are all connected.

A huge thank you to our teacher Asia Dorsey @bonesbugsandbotany for stewarding the land and bison, Culture Expanse @cultureexpanse for curating this space, the CSU Spur @csuspur for providing the beautiful kitchen space and our sponsors the Denver Foundation @tdfcommunity and the City of Denver’s Economic Development and Opportunity Office @denverdedo!

Connecting and sharing nutritious food helps to grow healthy bodies and healthy communities. We are so grateful to be part of such a meaningful event with such amazing people! 🌱🦬🍲🧡 #community #environment #wisdom #soup #broth #bones # 11/19/2025

✨I can do hard things ✨
The grandest part of my life was when my kitchen became a dedicated laboratory. I was exploring the known and unknown reaches of the universe. And then I moved into a practice of birthing new and solid structures into being by building businesses. And over that time of transforming from maiden to mother I had to temper my passions with a warm dim, less flashy but more sustaining fire. There was nothing more enlivening than taking on the challenge of procuring the ingredients for and making this chili oil. As a hot pungent rather than the warming pungent foods I usually prefer I fell movement deep down in my soul. Shoutout to for their brilliant recipe.

Our Queen has met her King .
She has passed through a ritual of initiation that has sparked hope and created imagination for how good and how beautiful building intentional family can be. On this day of your birth dear , we are all celebrating the gift that you are…and the gift you have given us. The gift of your whit. Your truth speak. Your command and your resilience. My sweet sister, my best friend, my consciousness and the woman who takes the given world and shapes brand new ones, it’s an honor to walk with you in this life. I’m so very happy that you were born. Happy Birthday!

“Just hold out your arms real wide.” Cristy loaded me up with her baby goat and the cheese from her mother. Receive this blessing, sis. Enjoy the feeling of life nestled into your bosom. ✨Smile like you mean it and mean it.✨There’s no compound more medicinal than raw milk. It’s what we, mammals feed our young. Goat milk is particularly favorable as its has smaller fat globules and the A2 casein proteins that mirror those found in breast milk. Do not escape the medicine of goats.

✨the spirit and the flesh are one thing✨ folks, searching outside of themselves for a unified theory of everything from a body, a living proof of their divinity. As such. There’s nothing inherently more spiritual about the flowers, the reproductive organs of a plant. Indeed, harvesting the flower, the flash, sacrifices the fruit of her labors. Permission granted. Praises sent inward and outward. Can you guess who this flower is?

✨When your mamma come through✨ with the collard greens and fresh collected eggs.
Savory grain porridges are some of my favorite breakfasts. I take soup leftovers, add them to left over or fresh rice, oats, teff what have you and warm it up. I choose a savory porridge over a sweet one for a few reasons. In the first, I’m imploring my body and her senses to find satiation in the sweetness that already exist in grains and other starchy foods like roots and tubers. I want to find my sweets where ever and however they present. Secondly, gut healing is what we do daily, for our whole lives. The meatstock which forms the basis of all of my soups and stews not only supplies my by body with gut and skin mending collagen but also deactivates any anti-nutrients in said grains. Lastly, The protein rich stews and meats slow down the conversion of the grains to sugar mellowing out my blood sugar and providing me with good energy all day long. How did you break your fast today?

“You know that a KING is only a man, with flesh and blood he bleeds just like you do.” As we make our plans to Eat the Pumpkin Prince that took office this year, I want to take some time to center, real love. As I prepare for ’s Valentine’s Day womb workshop…I want to remind y’all that Valentines Day is for the B🐺tches. The baddies. The best friends. The people who hold us down and refuse to hold up the revolution as they infuse power, community and caring into how they raise their kids, their niblings and their communities. The bad bi***es are hosting our community talk show next Thursday. This is a place where herbalists of all experience learn to talk back, take up their space on the earth and be the kind of food that is medicine for the revolution. Find that link in the bio.
