CDPHE Clean Air for Schools program provides free HEPA PACs and supplies to K-12 schools (public, private, charter, parochial, facility, and Tribal schools) and licensed early childhood education (ECE) providers (daycares, child care facilities, preschools, and HeadStart).

The program’s goal is to improve schools’ indoor air quality as a mitigation measure for exposure to respiratory viruses such as COVID-19, flu, and RSV, as well as other pollutants and pathogens that contribute to asthma, allergies, and other chronic respiratory illnesses.

CDPHE contracted with Carrier West to distribute HEPA portable air cleaners and associated supplies, to schools throughout Colorado. Delivery, installation, and follow-up support are included at no cost to schools. Carrier West will perform phone and email outreach to schools

"I went to the most renowned Outpatient Hospital in CO for my rheumatologist appt. I was horrified by the high levels of exposure that I, as a patient with both primary immune deficiency and autoimmune disorders, was forced into. The admission area was extremely crowded. Most employees, patients, and visitors were not wearing masks, including the staff and patients in the pulmonology/sleep clinic area."

We need to . It's disappointing that some of the greatest exposures are now in medical settings. Persons shouldn't be forced into these health-risk scenarios while obtaining care. Patients must remove their masks for specific appointments and testing (e.g., pulmonology function tests). These important & typically considered 'noninvasive' procedures are becoming increasingly dangerous for medically vulnerable individuals, given the stripping of all C19 precautions. We are moving backward despite knowing the effectiveness of implementing safety policies—which would increase accessibility and improve the quality of life for vulnerable and marginalized populations.

Penny is asking her healthcare providers to with her. She’ll also inquire about masking and other safety procedures in the pulmonology clinic before undergoing testing.
