Introducing Kendra DuBois, our 2026 Heart Transplant Cure Award Recipient. 🫀

Kendra’s story is one of extraordinary resilience and a powerful reminder of why we continue to push for what’s possible.

Born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), Kendra received her first life-saving heart transplant at just 2 months old. Years later, after her heart began to fail, she endured another difficult journey before receiving her second heart transplant at age 11.

Today, more than two decades later, Kendra is thriving—building a life filled with love, joy and possibility. Her journey represents the kind of tomorrow we want for every child and family facing complex congenital heart disease.

At Building the Cure, we believe children deserve more than survival. We’re committed to advancing research that can create better treatments, longer-lasting solutions and more tomorrows for heart warriors everywhere.

This October, we are honored to celebrate Kendra, her remarkable journey, and the future she represents at the Fourth Annual Cure Gala. ❤️

During Pediatric Cardiomyopathy and NICU Awareness Month, we recognize children facing serious heart conditions, critically ill newborns, and the families beside them. 🫀

For babies born with critical congenital heart disease, lifesaving intervention can begin within days of birth, but survival is only the beginning. Continued research is essential to creating better, longer-lasting solutions. 🔬🧬
