One major part of being independent is to get out in God’s wild places to gain perspective and meaning. Every fall, people from all over the world come to Colorado to do just that. The CYAC is proposing new laws to our lawmakers this month that will allow teens to change their names at school, internally, without informing or including us parents. Colorado GOP is debating to close primaries to independent voters. They want more control over the Republicans they nominate. I actually agree with them, they are a private political club and they should be able to nominate who they want. The real story is that independent voters are the majority voting block (47%) and we have zero quality candidates to support and vote for. It’s time to seek out and support true common sense, constitutional-minded independent leaders who are willing to challenge the establishment candidates. The US Supreme Court just scored a win for diversity! It is now unlawful for Universities to accept and reject students based solely on their race. This is a giant step for the USA to live more closely to the ideals of the Declaration of Independence that states “all men are created equal”. Real diversity, such as diversity of thought, skill, and culture, is now the standard. That’s a huge win. Our young aspiring adults are now able to succeed or fail based on who they are not what they are. We are not a perfect nation, and we have fallen short many times. However, this ruling brings us closer to being the nation we should all want to live in where race is an attribute, not an accomplishment or a failure.
