Well! We’re in a video! It was the 80’s but I’ll take it! Pretty cool…

Community of fellow Denver City Band alumni and friends during the Riker and Rollins era. Denver City, Texas This page is dedicated to the Mr. Riker and Mr.
Rollins era of directing the Denver City Mustang Marching Band, and all of those that had the privilege to be a part of that outstanding program. Not only were the band directors amazing, and the students super talented, but so many other people to include band parents, bus drivers, and sponsors made this happen for us! Please feel free to post fun and amazing photos any of you have from your memo

Hello everyone! Amber Riker here! I hope you had the best of 2024 or can at least focus on what was great about it!
Here’s to 2025! May it be a fantastic year for you all! Thank you for the support for my Dad and Mr. Rollins! They are the best of the best! Cheers! 🎉

Ok folks! It’s been a while for posting. But, I just spent some time finding some new (old) photos, and it’s time for “operation: who are these people?!”
I think this goes WAY back to the late 70s/early 80’s? If this is you, let us know!!!
Way back to the old grey passenger van with no seat belts or car seats! Going rogue!
Hey everyone! Please join me in wishing Mr. Riker a very happy 80th birthday!

100% Band nerds all the way! Best place to be! And, I know for a fact that my Dad (Mr. Riker) had an open office for anyone to walk in for advice, counseling, tutoring, and help. He was so much more than just a “teacher!”

This one though…My Dad and I on the track in Denver City, TX during a half time show with my Shaney! Circa, 1999. I remember this very well as I thought to myself….is it a good idea to have this baby out here with this “peel the paint off the press box” brass section with a baby? The DC marching band was always award winning and was SUPER LOUD! . Props! Maybe I’m a bit bias! That one Topaz rip though! You know if you know! And, yes…I can still nail that thing, cold! Woodwinds were just for show I think. I thought, eh? I was in it 100% since 1978! It was a “right of passage.” Marching band was life!
Dads first grandchild…

Mr. Riker turned 79 yesterday! WOW! In celebration, my Hattie (Mr.Riker’s 4-year old granddaughter named after his Mother) made a special card for him with watercolors my Mom (probably your art teacher) has been working with her! He got it today and I’m absolutely elated! ❤️ Please join me in wishing him the happiest of birthdays! 79!!!

FIRST YEAR THE MUSTANG BAND WON THE OVERALL OUTSTANDING BAND AT THE FAIR PARADE IN LUBBOCK. THE BAND WENT ON TO WIN IT FOR THE NEXT 14 YEARS WHEN THE DIRECTORS DECIDED TO NOT ATTEND THE 16TH YEAR. LOTS OF TALENTED KIDS CAME THROUGH THAT PROGRAM THOSE MANY YEARS. (Posted by Mr. Riker, aka: Dad)

It is with a very heavy heart that I say that one of our own absolutely BEST DC band members has passed this afternoon. Daniel Roberts passed this afternoon. One of my most favorite people ever! Always helpful. Always keeping people in line for me while I was drum major. Later went into the Marines….absolutely fitting! Push-ups were not an issue! He was prepared! His parents were avid band parents and just wonderful people overall. I am just floored and absolutely sad that I will not see this amazing human being again. *Daniel on the left of Mr. Riker
