Day of Giving is here! For the next 24 hours, we'll be pursuing our goal of $20,000 for the OLLI at UNT Support Fund. We're grateful to everyone who gave early over the past couple of weeks, putting us about $3,500 closer to our overall goal.

Go to https://olli.unt.edu to make a donation today and learn about our two Day of Giving challenges.

This Day of Giving, every gift counts, which is why we created a challenge to encourage at least 100 donors to give any amount in support of our OLLI. Once we reach our 100th donor in this campaign, OLLI will commit to offering a bus trip to the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame and Museum in Ft. Worth after it has completed its 16,000 square foot expansion. Former museum docent Dr. Jean Greenlaw will join us on the trip!

Early giving is open now at https://olli.unt.edu.

Last week, our members enjoyed a guided tour of the Denton County Office of History & Culture Historical Park, where they visited the Bayless-Selby House, Victorian Garden, African American Museum, and the Taylor Log Cabin and Outhouse. We're grateful to our guides for sharing this history with us!

Last week, we learned all about the history (and future) of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo from its Executive Vice President Lauren Lovelace Murray. She also spoke about her personal history as a cowgirl and the path in her career that led her to being the first woman in her current role.

This presentation wrapped up our OLLI After Five series for the spring semester. We're grateful to Dr. Jean Greenlaw, who provided inspiration for this semester's country western theme and helped us curate the speakers.

This is Student Employee Appreciation Week here at UNT, and we want to close it out with a special shoutout to our Student Assistant, Will. Will is an IT major and a Dean's Honor Roll student. Many of you have gotten to know him as the host of our classes in the UNT SSB. He's also assisted many of you over the phone, by email, or in person. In addition to those important duties, Will helps our staff by performing a variety of administrative tasks in our office. We had a lot of fun celebrating with him this morning during an hour of games and donuts here in the office!

Congratulations to Dr. Phelps and Dr. Goldmann!

This semester, Dr. Phelps co-presented one of our OLLI After Five lectures, which was on the History of Country Music. OLLI members have had the opportunity to learn about the history of American horror movies from Dr. Goldmann for several years, as she developed her lecture into this award winning online class for UNT History students!
