Housed within the new Department of Emergency Management and Disaster Science, the nation’s first and most respected Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Administration and Planning offers a rigorous curriculum that helps students develop valuable skills in disaster planning, interpersonal communication, and leadership. Mastering these competencies is essential to educating communities on how to prepare for and alleviate natural, technological and civil hazards.

Congratulations to our newest Master of Disaster! EMDS student Emily Brennan successfully defended her thesis entitled: “Accidental Open Space: An Evaluation of Post-Buyout Land Use and Activity in North and Central Texas.” Wonderful work, Emily!
It is finals week here at UNT and it is also May 4th! How lucky is that?

It was a great day to be in EMDS. We celebrated the end of another great year with food, fun, and awards! Thank you to all the students, alumni, faculty, and friends that attended today's party. 🌸🦅💚
We did it! We met our goal and have unlocked the $1000 gift to the EADP Undergraduate Scholarship! Thank you so much to everyone who donated and and big thank you goes out to the anonymous alumnus who created this Giving Day Challenge. We are pleased to announce that the recipient of this year’s Michael A. Penaluna EADP Scholarship is Ross Herberger! Ross is an EADP major with aspirations of becoming a floodplain manager. Check out the video to learn more about what this scholarship means to Ross.
