Alongside the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Weather Service (NWS), and the nation, UNT is happy to participate in Day!

With severe weather season nearly here in North Texas we encourage everyone to know where their safe place is, and what procedures to follow if it is needed.

Heads up, !

In coordination with the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), the University of North Texas will conduct its monthly Eagle Alert test on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 10:00 AM as part of a statewide emergency alert system test.

Although UNT is conducting the test at 10:00 AM, please note that the statewide test window runs from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. During this period, individuals may receive multiple alerts from different jurisdictions; this is expected as part of the coordinated regional test.

It's that time of year again, and Severe Weather Season is almost here. Come to our annual Severe Weather Seminar and get a chance to tour the UNT Emergency Operations Center.

As we begin to warm up above freezing during the week, remember that any lingering liquid has the potential to re-freeze overnight. Keep an eye out for patches of black ice as our roadways begin to clear up.

This weekend we're expecting some freezing temps to linger around for a while. Stay weather aware and remember these 4 P's!

Cooler weather can be expected this weekend following Friday's cold front, with lows ranging from the upper 20s to mid 30s and highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s.

The cold front arriving later today will bring rain chances back into the region for a few days. The main change to the forecast this morning is that Thursday morning's low temperatures are trending warmer (above freezing) so the potential for freezing drizzle is now low.

Heads up, Dentonites! The weather starting tonight (Nov. 29) is anticipated to dip into freezing temperatures. As a reminder, the Denton Community Shelter operated by Our Daily Bread will continue its expanded capacity for overnight guests seeking shelter from the cold whenever the wind chill is 32 degrees or below.
